This whole Wisconsin thing was pretty sudden.....was it not? I seem to remember a few months ago that it was close.....but these huge Johnson leads seem to be a new thing.

Any particular reason?

Seems to agree with other polls that have been coming out. I think this one can be moved to lean GOP but in not ready to write Feingold off just yet.

Wow, at least I won't feel let down on election night (since I'll already know what's coming). I hope he gives an epic concession/goodbye speech at least. Sad

I still say the Republicans shouldn't put this one in the bag, I still think Feingold has a chance. These lead seems just a bit too high.

I wouldn't call this race over, but this is certainly encouraging for Republicans. That being said, Feingold is one of the better liberals in the Senate, and I wish we could get rid of someone else, like Schumer, instead.

I wish Feingold & Boxer could swap numbers. Oh well, stuff like this happens.

I'm not counting Feingold out just yet. He seems to have a magical ability to come from behind every time.

PPP, Rasmussen, CNN, POS all have Johnson above 50%.

When an incumbent has their challenger consistently north of 50 they are in deep trouble.

Feingold has never polled above 46% in any poll I have seen, so it's looking pretty bleak.

Maybe Sharon Angle and Sarah Palin will come campaign for Johnson?

I'm assuming you mean recently. He used to poll higher than that quite often.

I was worried about Tommy thompson would jump in and win this race. I had no idea Johnson was gonna win, well that's that, Sen Johnson.

Am I the only one that feels skeptical about Rasmussen after they made almost all of their numbers exclusive to their subscribers? Even though their toplines don't contain much information, at least it's something.

Maybe that Johnson scandal that DailyKos is talking about will help save Feingold.

Huh

Wyden is a guy that everyone should be able to get behind.

Freedom state...

Feingold is not longer a face of the Democratic Senate. Don't feel bad, though. You still have Boxer.

Johnson is matching Feingold ad-for-ad, which is rare for a Republican candidate in WI.  Feingold puts out an attack ad, and within 24 hrs Johnson has put out a much better rebuttal ad.  It's interesting, too, that Russ seems to have a better reputation nationally than locally.  Even liberals who agree with his politics don't really like him; he's well known in the state for personally being a total jerk and the smuggest guy you will ever meet.

One other factor isn't mentioned enough.  Feingold did a ton of town hall meetings last year before the Obamacare vote and got an earful from constituents telling him  their concerns about the bill, and he would visibly roll his eyes and get impatient with the questioning.  This got a ton of play on the local news and talk radio and his approval ratings began to take a hit.  Then, of course, he voted for the bill and things really went south for him.

When does Feingold reach Blanche Lincoln level patheticness and start releasing internal polls with him trailing?

Well the return of mypalfish this year has confirmed that he is a Republican as I have suspected since 2004. At that time a lot of people thought he was a Democrat with unrealistic hopes for Kerry's chances. I suspected he was a Republican just trying to hedge his bets; if Kerry won, he'd have had the consolation of claiming he was right on an anonymous internet forum.
