Ah, so he is rumoured what the British press would describe as 'erudite'. They used to like 'flamboyant' and 'dapper', but those are obviously absurd in certain cases (cf. the member for Birkenhead who is permanently attached to the word 'erudite' but is also about as flamboyant as wallpaper paste) and so are no longer used much.

It's a pretty unpleasant practice, when you think about it. If unintentionally hilarious.
