He, or at least some interested party, apparently commissioned a poll in NH.

Interesting.  Trumps responses to the interviewer questioning him on whether or not he would run in 2012 were all non-denial denials, which makes he think that he might have at least indirectly been behind this poll.

It would be funny to see him in the debates. He wouldn't win though.

I'd love to see a President Trump, that'd just be ridiculous.

I imagine it would end up like Steve Forbes's campaigns.

You can also never tell what side he'll take on an issue.

He sounds like he'd be a liberal Republican.

Is he going to try for the Reform Party nomination again?

Scarily enough, there are plenty of people here who were born in the 90s, and would not have been following politics in 1999.

EDIT: Btw, this is the funniest part of that article:

Anyone want to do an electoral map for that poll?

It was possible, just extremely (emphasis on that) unlikely.

Trump actually does seem to be leaving the door open here:

Lisa: As you know, we've inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump.

Watching him defend his business record would be hilarious.

Now he says that he is absolutely thinking about running for President. I wonder what a Trump candidacy would do the race. I wonder what his numbers would be against Obama, or if he ran third party, against Obama and the Republican. Maybe he would be America's version of Silvio Berlusconi.

Why does he say "For the first time in my life, I am absolutely thinking about it", when he set up an exploratory committee in 1999?  Did he set up the exploratory committee without thinking about it?

Might make Nader look humble; otherwise, there is no value in this.

Does anyone think he would run as an independent?

Coincidentally, 2012 will be the two-decade anniversy of Ross Perot's most successful run.

Does anyone think he would run as an independent?

In the unlikely scenario that he runs at all, I assume it would be as an Independent.  I assume that his positions on issues would not fit with those of a doctrinaire Republican, and his ego is probably too big for him to agree to debates with 10 other candidates or jump through all the hoops one has to jump through in the primaries.

The biggest impediment to an indy bid is the cost of rounding up enough signatures to get on 50 different state ballots.  But if you're planning on running a campaign with a budget of several hundred million $ anyway, then you can afford this.

That would be very, very interesting to see a serious independent campaign with a chance of breaking the 5-10% threshold.  I wonder what Trumps best states would be?

OK, Trump now says that, despite his Reform Party past, he's now a Republican, and would run as a Republican:

http://www.gop12.com/2010/10/trump-id-run-as-republican.html

That would be interesting, seeing as how, two years ago, Trump said that Bush should be impeached:
