Trotskyite Churchill is probably the funniest mental image that has popped into my head today. Thank you, good sir, for providing me with that delightful thought.
My mental image is Churchill at a Red Army parade, with the Hymn of the Soviet Union playing.

You...wouldn't find many Trotskyites at those.

Fine. The Internationale, with Lenin.

Guys, just stop it. Facts and libertarians don't mix. I would suggest to wade out the stupidity.

Excuse you?!

Read what lewrockwell.com has to say on this before you resort to the lefty attacks.

I'm sorry I'm not going to take knowledge from the guy who tried to ally American libertarians with Patrick Buchanan of all people seriously.
And as for lefty attacks.......

He did?

Anyway, they might have the same foreign policy views, but radically differ on Culture War, abortion, social views, etc. Plus, it is general believed the Buchanan is a (not so) closet racist.

Pretty much.
Although I would say that the abortion issue (unlike what one poster will have you believe) is too complicated of an issue for there to be a legit "libertarian" stance on it.  Also Buchanan likes protectionism, so yeah...............

So, the first thing I thought when I read Mechaman's post was that the difference described hit me as "Conservatism in one country" vs "Internationalism."

Then I remembered what we were just talking about.  And smiled.

If Dick Cheney were in a grave, I'd propose putting his grave next to Leon Trotsky's, repeating that statement, and do a contest to see which one rolls over faster.

Its doable, but you have to get Cheney's coffin back to his bunker-crypt before he rises at sunset.

BTW: Can we get an IP check in aisle 6? I wouldn't bet the farm on it, but Stark hasn't recently been seen in public so.....

Buchanan also supported labor unions in addition to all of that. How allying with him seemed like a sensible move for libertarians is one of the greatest mysteries of our time. To Lew Rockwell's credit, he later admitted that it was a mistake.

When did they allie with him? 1992? 2000?

The idea was first put forth in 1990, but it was realized with Buchanan's 1992 run. This link says quite a bit about it.

I knew Ron Paul endorsed Buchanan in 1992, but I didn't know that he actually had a temporary alliance with the Libertarians.

While Fascism has superficial elements of the left-wing (like nationalizing some industries), it's very much an extreme right-wing ideology/method of governance.

Hi,

the NSDAP was not a traditional right wing party in germany those days.

It was a new type of right wing party in those days.

Their enemies stood mainly in the politacal center (Catholics, Liberals & Social Democrats).

The NSDAP allies with the conservative establishment and partly with the extreme left.

Their followers nowadays stay on the right side of the political spectrum.

So in my opinion the NSDAP is a right wing party which includes some parts of left wing theory in their program.

Extreme left? Yeah, its not like they banned the communist party or blamed the Reichstag fire on them or sent thousands of communists to concentration camps or anything...

Welcome to the forum (assuming you are new, as opposed to you just don't post that much). This place pretty much has a more left wing bias, so don't be surprised at some of the comments, though I advise you read the arguments and addressing them in order to better reason your point.

Well, that's the most compelling and detailed argument I've ever seen.
