The ballots have been printed.  EVERYONE will be printed on the ballot.

Democrats are getting desperate.  They are thinking of ways to force out one of their own so they can embrace a known liar.  This race truly says something about where the country is right now that Democrats have to run a republican traitor 'democrat' posing as an independent because the real democrat is having trouble getting 20% of the vote.

FWIW, rumor has it that this Meek-will-drop-out-rumor was planted by Crist operatives in Broward County to get Meek out of the race.

I think calling anyone in this race a "real Democrat" is a stretch.

This might raise the chance of Rubio losing from 1% to 5%. Great idea, DEMs.

It would also hurt Sink's chances at the Governorship, since having Meek on the ballot would likely bolster black turnout.

With Rubio hitting 50% in the latest Rasmussen, it doesn't really matter what Meek does or doesn't do.

It's one poll.

That wouldn't be surprising at all.  Has anyone here watched the debates or video of Meek when he's talking about Crist?  I sense real animosity from Meek towards Crist in the 'how dare you ruin MY chances and steal MY votes' sense.  Also, he lashed out at Sierra club yesterday for having the audacity to do a dual endorsement.

This sound like a guy who is angry and bitter OR like a guy considering whether to drop out?

It sounds like a guy who's staying in and hasnt begun to question whether he should drop out.

I'd also like to add that probably 10% of Meek's 20% is comprised of African American voters.  You think 90%(or all) of those voters will show up to vote for Crist should Meek drop out?  Nope.  Those voters will be annoyed or just be too busy to vote on election day.

Yes, but it doesn't have to be close to accurate for the statement to essentially be correct. Even under the best of circumstances Meek dropping out wouldn't lead to a 1:1 switch of his votes to Crist.

Meek support is likely both 1) Young and 2) African American. These are not the FL Dems who would likely switch to Crist which are older, Jewish, and hispanic voters. Most of them have already voted. Meek dropping out would change the composition of the electorate on election day and possibly push Rubio over 50% without him even gaining a single vote. Then all the side effects come in. Lower young and black turnout damages House seats, Sink, and State Legislative races, on the eve of the redistricting.

It really doesn't matter, as for the 100th time, Meek will not leave this race unless he falls to the low teens/single digits.

A politician has made a categorical declaration.

Well I guess that settles that.

On the other hand, it's also an open seat purple state in 2010.  The good guys aren't in a very good position across the board in such places this cycle.

Absentee ballots have already been sent out, and in one article I saw it said as of Oct 2, 25,000 ballots had already been returned, so who knows how many have by now.

On the other hands, Rubio seems favored for the seat anyway, and Meek, while cannot win, may help Sink with a Black turnout.
