My Reasons

I decided that I did not want to just slide into the Imperial throne without a word, as if the election were a pure formality. As such, I am giving my reasons for running for Emperor of the Imperial Dominion of the South here.

My hope was to be an important driving force in the Legislature. It was doubly important that I fulfill this role through the first months of the Legislature's existence, when we were consistently unable to find a third citizen who would serve as an active member of the Legislature alongside myself & Darth Deldem. Ultimately, we were lucky enough to have Darth Yelnoc join our number & round it out. In fact, things went so smoothly at last that the regularly scheduled Legislative elections last month were glossed over without anyone noticing.

However, the Legislature has been stricken by inactivity lately. Anyone who looks at my record during my two terms in the Senate will know that I am not a fountain of ideas for bills. In my eight months in the Senate, I proposed maybe four or five bills that passed, as well as spearheaded major overhauls of a few more bills. In the Legislature, many of the bills that I proposed were suggested to me by Emperor Jbrase or former Lord of Darkness tb75. I've been thinking that it may be a good opportunity to get new blood with fresh ideas in there.

When I saw that Jbrase was leaving the throne to run for IDS Attorney General, I thought it was the perfect opportunity for me. I can continue playing an important role in regional politics while allowing someone else to join the Legislature. As a good friend once told me, there are two types of legislators in Atlasia; proposers & amenders. I am very much an amender, & that can work in a body of ten Senators, but not in one of three Legislators. As such, I feel that it is time for me to move on to an office that is better suited to my tendencies to scrutinize the presented product, so to speak.
