Per the White House, Obama will be in California on Oct. 20 and 22; Nevada and Washington after that.

It's pretty telling that the president is going to be spending the final days of the campaign trying to stem the loss of the 10th and 11th senate seats.

If Robert Byrd had died in January 2009 we could have told you he probably shouldn't go to WV to campaign for his successor.

Also, he's recently done rallies in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.

so, he waits until the bodies are cold before he arrives on the scene, thus providing himself an alibi?!  clever

Stem the losses? In terms of CA at least, he probably would just like to be associated with a "competitive" win.

Here was my breakdown:

Road kill:

IN, AR, NE

These are lost seats

Probable:

PA, WI, CO

The Republican candidates are maintaining a lead or pulling ahead.

Toss up:

IL, NV, WV, WA

All four could go to one party, but I expect a 50/50 split.

On a very good day:

CA, CN

Obama or the Democratic candidates have to make a serious mistake.

Boxer (CA) isn't on my tossup list.  It might be geographic, i.e. Obama will be in the neighborhood.
