That erases Reid's cash on hand advantage.  Ironically, this might mean that Angle is a stronger candidate than Lowden would have been, since I doubt Lowden could have raised half that much.

$14 million in one quarter in Nevada is phenomenal. If she were not so gaffe-prone, she could have been one of the best candidates this cycle.

I realized in 2007 that if Reid was to be taken down it would have to be by a non-traditional candidate (I wasn't expecting someone like Angle though) who would connect with the national Conservative grass roots and be able to raise millions through that netwook because all the local money was backing Reid (Casinos and mine operations). The reason it had to be non-traditional was because most of the prominent candidates would be bought, defeated, prosecuted, whatever it took by the Reid machine to protect its Godfather. Tarkanian would have fit this bill as well to some extent. I am surprised that Angle was able to do that well in fundraising to the tune of 14 mil.

Let's wait until we see how much money she spent raising that $14 million before drawing too many conclusions.

Lowden would have defeated Reid by double digits in a cakewalk. Instead, the GOP went with a nutter who may very well lose after taking all that donor money. But yeah "stronger candidate." Whatev.

I find it very difficult to believe that a candidate who ran such a terrible campaign that she couldn't get out of the primary would have had a cakewalk running against a much better funded and polished opponent than Angle.

$14 million is a lot of money for a candidate from a small state to raise.  Lowden might not have even raised half of that amount.

So, by that logic, you think that O'Donnell is a better candidate than Castle. He could get out of the primary either. This is where the GOP was before Angle

Lowden ran a terrible campaign, and deserved to lose.  She was extremely gaffe-prone - and there was no indication that she was going to get her act together once Reid shone the spotlight on her.  She self-imploded.

Castle was dumb for ignoring Christine O'Donnell and not running an active campaign until the last minute.  But he was far from gaffe-prone and didn't self-implode.

The I-didn't-run-an-active-campaign-until-the-last-minute, so-I-lost lesson is one many incumbents will learn this cycle - including some that we have no idea were likely to lose.  It's showing up in Michigan polling already.

Apparently, the national Tea Party folks are rating this their number one race. Angle's their favorite -- why, god only knows. (Maybe it's just Reid-hate?) Still ... they're showering her with cash.

The other two races they're focusing on are, inexplicably, Delaware and Alaska.

Not so inexplicably.  All three were races in which the candidates they backed against the more establishment candidates won.  They are riding their horses until the finish.

So out of that $14 million, she only actually has $4 million in the bank.

Given that we are only two & a half weeks from election day, I'd be surprised if she had much more than that left in the bank.

She spent $12 million.  Not all of it went to raise the $14 million.  Some of it was on ads, consultants and the like.  We don't have a breakdown.

It's not like 12 million cash on hand would do her that much good right now anyway

About $4.5 million went on direct mail expenses.

More than the money, Angle has turned into a pretty effective candidate curiously enough. She has proven herself educable. She should be able to put the hapless Reid away, whose charm quotient is close to absolute zero.

In fact, Angle and Reid have about the same amount of money left in the bank.

This one is absolutely devastating.

(Or maybe it's just average - I don't know because I'm in MA and all our ads are absolutely terrible.)
