FWIW, this seems credible. I was always suspicious of polls showing Hickenlooper ahead of Maes & Tancredo combined, given that the Republican nature of this year should mean that either of them alone would be plenty competitive with Hickenlooper (though Maes would most likely lose).

not buying it, for the GOP vote split will elect the Dem...because if voters are smart enough and tuned-in enough not to split the GOP vote, the Dems are due for a historical reaming come Nov 2nd.

The key here is momentum. If Tancredo is to win he has to keep the momentum on his side.

He did pretty well in the debates. He kept his rhetoric moderate, and didn't mention immigration much.

I'm actually half-rooting for him mostly because Democrats will almost surely hold the Colorado Senate.

Haven't polls had Hickenlooper in the high 40's? I don't know why he would have collapsed in such a way.

The debate, perhaps? I think Tancredo assuaged the worries many had about him in that debate. He even addressed people calling him xenophobic, pretty well if you ask me.

I don't see a historical reaming, or anything close to it, BUT I was a at a fundraiser for a WI State Senate GOP candidate last night and the crowd was over 500 people and was spilling out the door and down the block.  Usually an event for a race of this nature is lucky to get 50-75 people.  IMO, GOP voters are extremely tuned in and just might be smart enough to go with Tancredo, if he shows he can win.

Disgusting. I think Colorado is smarter than to elect a fascist, but I could be proven wrong. In which case Colorado would automatically join Alabama and Oklahoma on my black list.

Didn't he say that the US should bomb Mecca?

And you think he really meant it? I find it rather depressing that many candidates are judged based on only a handful of gaffes.

Besides, he's running for Governor, not President, so foreign policy views are irrelevant.

He actually came out against the Arizona immigration law awhile ago, fwiw.

I think that's the only time he wasn't talking about illegal immigration.

That's an understatement.

Tancredo and Maes are both nutty.

BTW, I'm not defending Tancredo because I like him, but because I think calling him a fascist is over the top. Calling him crazy is reasonable Wink

I often get the urge to play devil's advocate when people use extreme rhetoric (from either side, though you don't see me doing it with left much here for obvious reasons).

Upon some rational thought, I retract this Tongue

I'm a young (just a year short, unfortunately).

I would vote for the Libertarian candidate, probably, though I wouldn't mind Hickenlooper as Governor. Yes,  I do have a bit of an erratic personality

I end up getting overly defensive of Republicans that I do not support because I am overexposed to liberalism on a day to day basis that I have a mental backlash. No matter, I don't support Tancredo, end of story.

Too bad neither of them are/were fascists.

The only fascist president was Woodrow Wilson.

Yeah, this is Tancredo's ceiling folks, and it seems like a rather high estimate
