all 3 are currently held by Dems, and GOP wins in IL and WV could sway the balance to 57-43.  And if the GOP wins the House as expected, it's hard to see the Dead-Duck-Dems getting cute and passing anything which the GOP finds objectionable.

They can't accomplish anything with 59 Senators, they sure as hell won't with 57.

I like how they threaten to push unpopular laws through in the lame duck session.  The Democrats are just like the guy who is about to be evicted from his apartment and takes a crap in the sink before leaving

It'd be funny if one candidate one the IL special election and the other won the actual election. It could happen...
