She has actually been spending much less the last week or two. Of course before that it was just getting ridiculous with the sheer amounts of ads telling me Jerry Brown has failed at life.

When you have enough that spending $160,000,000 is no object to you, it would be sort of strange to fold at this juncture.

Come on, Whitman isn't THAT rich.  That's more than 12% of her net worth.

Because the other ~$1,400,000,000 just won't pay the bills, eh? Wink

Well, she could be close to longer being a billionaire.

Every self funder should know when to halt his or her losses.  Especially when you've already saturated the market to the point you're running ads in Chinese

Even leaving just $900,000,000 would still see her in great financial shape. It's not as if she's contemplating spending enough money on this campaign that her financial situation would be in jeopardy.

Running ads in Chinese or Vietnamese in parts of California isn't a bad strategy, actually.  It's a good way to get your message out with little opposition from your less well-funded opponent.

I was totally expecting an Onion article when I opened this thread. I instead got something far more comical.

I never said it was a bad strategy Smiley  But yeah, you're right.

I'm just trying to make a point that once someone sees 1,500 of your ads, having them see another 200 is only going to do so much.

It could even be possible that some voters are being turned off by the saturation levels, with the feeling either that she's trying to buy the election, or are just turned off by people who spend so excessively, or are just sick of seeing so many ads for the same candidate that they would otherwise be neutral towards.

EBAY has gone up enough yesterday and today to completely replenish her wealth.

That would have been a whole lot cheaper than her gubernatorial campaign.
