Well if we have to lose the House, better we lose it getting rid of people like Marshall than real Democrats.

Blacks seem rather under polled. Especially considering the district takes up a large portion of south Georgia...

Well, Marshall isn't exactly a great Rep. But, believe me, you don't want Austin Scott in Congress.

This is some sort of internal or partisan (R) poll. First, it refers to Marshall as a "Democrat incumbent". Second, they asked two questions before the toplines question; of the two, the one provided poisons the well by putting party preferences in mind (and definitely underrepresents white Democrats), while the second isn't even mentioned, making it look even more suspicious. (Note the jump from "Q1" to "Q3".)

No doubt this will be a tough election at best for Marshall, but this poll is crap.

Also note the site of the company: http://landmarkcommunications.net

Their team lists Mark Rountree as their President. His campaign contributions: http://newsmeat.com/fec/bystate_detail.php?city=Duluth&st=GA&last=Rountree&first=Mark

All Republicans. Junk poll indeed.

So because he donated $2670 to three separate entities in 5 years he is considered a republican hack and his polls should be thrown out?

That in addition to Verily's comments.

I have to agree that the poll is questionable, Marshall's number looks much too low, I would expect him to at least be in the 40s. The same pollster had Bishop down in GA-2 and I find that to be a bit hard to believe.

Just because they worked for the Republicans in the past, doesn't mean that this poll was done for a candidate or a party group. There's no proof of that at all for these two particular polls. That would be just like calling all PPP polls internals because they have done internals for Democrats.

No. They haven't "worked for Republicans in the past". Their one major line of business is working for Republican candidates for elective office, mostly in Georgia where they are from.

That's not to say that Marshall isn't probably toast, of course, but this should not be mistaken for an independent poll even if it may well technically be one.

Do you consider the Penn Schoen Berland polls done for The Hill to be independent even though Penn is an exclusively Democratic pollster?

They're being sponsored by the natural gas industry, which makes them suspect in my book.
