Not quite how preferential voting works but I'll take it. Ghana is a great all-round mix of culture, history, (relatively) good governance and general likeability.

Well, the lesser evil among those which remained...

Thanks for this survivor, Vazdul.
Clean and well managed, as usual !

Now, maybe you can reveal which country was your survivor Grin ?
(or your top 3 or top 5)

Not quite how preferential voting works but I'll take it. Ghana is a great all-round mix of culture, history, (relatively) good governance and general likeability.

Even if we do Borda count, the result is:

Ghana 27
South Africa 23
Namibia 22
Senegal 18
Mali 15

And if we eliminate the last-place candidate every round, we get:

Ghana 2
Namibia 2
Senegal 1 2
South Africa 1
Mali

Ghana 2 3
Namibia 2
Senegal 2
South Africa

Ghana 3 5
Namibia 2
Senegal

So the result is the same. Besides, no country beat Ghana in a pairwise contest.

My top pick was Kenya, but I'm happy with Ghana.

My favorite would have been Egypt. A bit of a boring pick, I know, but you can't beat it's history.

Out of the top 5 that made it to the final round, I actually would have favored Mali. The Mali and Songhai Empires have fascinating histories as well. At its peak, the city of Timbuktu was one of the biggest centers of culture and learning in the world.
