The rest later...

Well, considering that he's voting for the Whig / Republican each time, it's not that hard to predict.

For Me;

1824 - Jackson
1828 - Jackson
1832 - Wirt
1836 - Harrison
1840 - Harrison
1844 - Polk
1848 - Cass
1852 - Pierce
1856 - Buchanan
1860 - Douglas
1864 - Lincoln
1868 - Grant
1872 - Grant
1876 - Tilden
1880 - Garfield
1884 - Cleveland
1888 - Cleveland
1892 - Cleveland
1896 - Palmer
1900 - McKinley
1904 - Parker
1908 - Taft
1912 - Wilson
1916 - Hughes
1920 - Cox
1924 - Davis
1928 - Hoover
And Republicans from there on out.

Essentially, I'm a Democrat (or Mugwump) until Al Smith runs...with the exception of 1832-1840 where Jackson personally alienates me from the party (I hate Clay too, hence the vote for Wirt)...1864-1872 I'm convinced by bloody shirt arguments, 1880 I just love Garfield, I can't stand Bryan so I vote for the Gold Democrats in 96 and hold my nose and vote for McKinley in '00 and Taft in '08.  Wilson loses my trust by '16, and by '28 the Democrats have shifted so far to the left I can't support them anymore.

um, why? and Fillmore in 1856? Didn't you say you were Catholic? You realize his party's whole platform was basically anti-Catholicsm?

for me:

1824 Clay
1828 Jackson, with hindsight Adams
1832 Wirt
1836 Van Buren
1840 Van Buren
1844 Clay
1848 Cass
1852 Hale
1856 Fremont
1860 Lincoln
1864 Linclon
1868 Grant
1872 Grant
1876 Hayes
1880 Garfield
1884 Blaine
1888 Harrison
1892 Weaver
1896 Bryan
1900 Bryan
1904 T. Roosevelt
1908 Bryan
1912 T. Roosevelt
1916 Wilson, with hindsight Benson
1920 Debs, assuming I wasn't imprisoned by A. Mitchell Palmer
1924 LaFollette
1928 Smith
1932 FDR
1936 FDR
1940 FDR
1944 FDR
1948 Truman
1952 toss up, probably Ike because the country did need a change and Truman was doing poorly at that point
1956 another toss up (last election between two EXCELLENT candidates), I'll go with Stevenson for variety
1960 JFK
1964 LBJ, with hindsight Hass or DeBerry
1968 Humphrey
1972 McGovern
1976 Carter
1980 Carter
1984 Mondale
1988 Dukakis
1992 Clinton
1996 Clinton
2000 Gore
2004 Kerry

so I would've basically very reluctantly been a Democrat until the Civil War just because the Whigs were chumps, then a Republican from then until the turn of the century although this is mostly because of anti-South partisanship. After Bryan took on that fascist McKinley I would've become an independent or swing voter progressive Republican. And when FDR came around I would've been a solid Democrat since, with the possible exception of voting for Ike.

Dewey was too "progressive" and Truman didn't handle the Korean War successfully.

Pretty much the exact same for 1968, a bad wartime president and a liberal GOP candidate.

He was an imperialistic corporatist.

As every sane American was in the 1880's and 1890's. Those who opposed business were shunned as socialists.

McKinley is the greatest U.S. President in my opinion. We all know William Jennings Bryan would have destroyed our economy with his super risky Free Silver Policy.

Because Dewey is better than a dead guy and his out of the loop VP and Nixon is much better than JFK and his  coniving Veep LBJ

I can't stand either McKinley (McKinley Tariff, anyone) or Bryan (proto-communist inflationary nutjob [without even getting into his later role in the Scopes Monkey case]).

Hence, the vote for Palmer in 1896.

Well ... hindsight is 20-20 but I'll try to be honest about who I would have backed at the time .

1824 - John Quincy Adams
1828 - John Quincy Adams
1832 - Henry Clay
1836 - Daniel Webster
1840 - James Birney
1844 - Henry Clay
1848 - No Vote

In the election Taylor would have been too pro-slavery, Cass's policy of "let the states decide" would have sunk him for me, Van Buren's economic record and Jacksonian roots flunk him in my book, and Gerrit Smith had good intentions but was kinda crazy (a 19th century Ross Perot).

1852 - John Parker Hale
1856 - John Fremont
1860 - Abraham Lincoln
1864 - Abraham Lincoln
1868 - US Grant
Who knew his administration would be so messed up?
1872 - US Grant
1876 - Samuel Tilden
1880 - Winfield Hancock
1884 - Grover Cleveland
1888 - Grover Cleveland
1892 - Grover Cleveland
1896 - William Jennings Bryan
1900 - William Jennings Bryan
1904 - Theodore Roosevelt
1908 - William Howard Taft
1912 - Theodore Roosevelt
1916 - Charles Evans Hughes
1920 - James Cox
1924 - John Davis
1928 - Al Smith
1932 - Franklin Roosevelt
1936 - Franklin Roosevelt
1940 - Franklin Roosevelt
1944 - Franklin Roosevelt
1948 - Harry Truman
1952 - Dwight Eisenhower
1956 - Dwight Eisenhower
1960 - John Kennedy
1964 - Lyndon Johnson
1968 - Hubert Humphrey
Would have originally been a Bobby Kennedy supporter.
1972 - George McGovern
Would have initially backed Scoop Jackson.
1976 - Jimmy Carter
Would have initially backed Scoop Jackson.
1980 - Jimmy Carter
A Carter supporter throughout.
1984 - Walter Mondale
Initially a John Glenn supporter.
1988 - Michael Dukakis
Initially a Gary Hart supporter.
1992 - Bill Clinton
A Clinton supporter throughout.
1996 - Bill Clinton
2000 - Al Gore
Voted for Gore in Primary.
2004 - John Kerry
Voted for Kerry in Primary.

Again, I did my best to place myself "in the moment".
