So much for Republicans taking the Senate, eh? Time to flip this, I guess.

This is hardly breaking the tie. It's still a tossup, either way you color it on a predictions map.

Rasmussen was the only hold out for him. He's lead in everything else. I do still have it as a tossup (for now) but this a very bad sign for Raese.

Fair enough. I suppose my optimism has something to do with the fact that all polls are outliers to me - I only trust results. Tongue

Good news, though I'd much rather Feingold had come back from the big deficit to narrowly lead. Should have filmed some ads shooting pieces of paper with the names of unpopular legislation written on them, apparently.

I don't even get why Feingold fell so fast, myself. I mean, Wisconsin is MUCH more Democrat-friendly than WV, even in a year like this. My only guess is that Johnson has to be Scott Brown to the power of about fifty.

Comparisons with Wisconsin race are absurd. Manchin lurched so far right he basically just said hello to Gengis Khan. And Raese is a semi-perennial candidate who doesn't even live in the state. Feingold on the other hand is still an unapologetic liberal and Johnson avoided blunders perfectly. And Wisconsin is more Democratic than West Virginia only at presidential level.

This. In fact, at the state and local levels, few states are as historically Democratic as West Virginia.

What? Did you just call me out on my spelling? If so, what was I supposed to use - Democratic-friendly? How in the hell does that even make sense? Huh

I think there's a mistake in the title. Shouldn't it be Manchin (R)?

Same is true for Arkansas. Doesn't mean Blanche has a prayer.

Of all the leads I found implausable, this was the one.  Raese looked like he was on his way to winning, but then that at the diner backfired and he's been slipping ever since.  Manchin isn't going to find the netroots hospitable.

So being relatively anti-war is 19th century? Good to know. Gives one more of a perspective on how Democrats think.

The idiots are the ones who decide not to vote for a candidate because of what he or she thinks about other countries.

Raese is anti-war? In what way? I'd love to see the documentation on that.

Perhaps West Virginians want a Senator who is actually in touch and connected with the state, which is what Manchin is. The whole "hick" ad and talk about Raese living it up in Florida allowed Manchin to reclaim this.

Easing the rules of engagement for troops in Afghanistan? Disgusting.

I'm increasingly confident Manchin will win this, but I think that the Mountain Party nominee may siphon off some votes due to Manchin's conservatism.

Raese is probably the furthest right Senate nominee this cycle. I mean, the man wants to eliminate the minimum wage...

Raese seems like a pretty bad candidate for West Virginia. If the Republicans had a Mike Huckabee-style candidate to run they'd probably have this race in the bag.
