I don't drink much and certainly not for something like a midterm election.

I voted for wine because it's what I usually drink most evenings, and I just got a mixed case from the WSJ wine club last week and still have about five bottles left.

Of course, in my office I keep vodka--but not that nasty stuff depicted in Gramps' post.  I'll probably have a glass or two of vodka around 4:30ish, before heading home to my family and my wine.

In other words, election night will not be much different than any other night.

Grey Goose is nasty?  What kind do you like, bro?

Mendeleev, for starters.  And about three other brands from Russia.  Can't buy them here.  I've looked.  The department chair travels to St. Pete about once a year and brings back some when he goes.  We also have some Russian visitors who bring it over once in a while.  And we bring them top shelf California wine in return.  Among what I can find at the liquor stores hereabouts, my favorite is a six-times distilled brand from Austin.  I forget the name.  Let me get up and go to the file cabinet.

Ah, here it is:  Tito's Handmade Vodka.  ("Distilled six times in an old-fashioned pot still and bottled by a fifth-generation Texan.")  Good stuff.  Not too terribly expensive, either.  Cheaper than a round-trip ticket to Saint Petersburg anyway.

Ugh.. Tito's is crap.  It's not smooth at all... it goes down like a bee sting.  I'd so rather drink Stolichnaya... or if I'm super cheap, Sobieski.

no.

We must all agree that it's the best, most healthy, and most thirst-quenching drink there is.  But to qualify as a best answer it must follow the rules of the thread, which include a request for a parenthetical specification of an emotion.

examples of this would be water (bored), or water (from the tap, I'm broke), water (from a bottle, I'm naive), or water (from a natural spring in Fiji, I'm naive but rich), or water (I'm five years old and Daddy doesn't allow me to have tequila yet).

Mr. Fuzzleton's best bet will certainly be water.  Lots of it.

water (snff, snff,  dudeisthereafuckingdrinkingfountaininthisfuckingplace?I'mfuckingparched.  snff snff.)

ahhh, water.

I should point out that this indicates nothing other than a liking for water that dried leaves have been boiled in.

I should point out that this indicates nothing other than a liking for water that dried leaves have been boiled in.

The purpose of tea is not to simply boil dried leaves in water.  If that were the case, I could go take seome dried up oak leaves off the ground outside and do that.

But, being the toogoodforyou SOB that I am, you steep aromatic leaves in water that has just been boiling for a certain number of minutes to impart the flavor of the leaves into the water, making a tasty, relaxing drink.

Then again, the only recipes I've ever seen where good cuts of meat are boiled in water... were British.. so maybe you guys just like to boil sh**t.
