Since I'd be working with the Democrats...

CHANGE THE TONE!!!! - There is an incredibly negative and angry tone to this season - it encourages turnout amongst the angriest and lowers it among others (otherwise known as our voters) - hit the airwaves - positive messages, delivered direct to camera, talk about your record, what you want to do, actually talk up the financial reforms and yes, even the healthcare reforms.

....it may be too little too late.

I'd send out popular Democrats to marginal Senate and house districts, this is a loss-minimisation exercise.

Well, the complete BS "suspicious packages" thing was about the best "October surprise" they could come up with, and Obama got to look all "presidential" and it diverted an entire night of news away from the midterm elections (even FOX - I checked).

Democrats:

Tell Obama to shut the &*^&%! up, trash talking the way he has been lowers the office and frankly riles up the GOP more than they already are (if that is possible) - Why is Obama helping GOP turnout efforts?

Nationalize local races by pointing out flawed GOP candidates close by.  O'Donnell is the best thing that ever happened to Joe Sestek.

Republicans

GOTV
GOTV
GOTV
Go positive in your ads, give the (few) undecided a reason to voter FOR you and not just against Obama.  Anybody voting against Obama, you've already got them, go for the middle and try to build a mandate, not just a victory...
GOTV
GOTV
GOTV

and one last thing..

GOTV - The battle is won, just get your folks to the polls on time. Pull your last couple hundred million  in negative ads and buy every single one of your volunteers all the pizza, beer, jackets, pens, hats, and anything else they want and make sure they feel like 24K solid gold going into the weekend, monday and tuesday, and tell them the future is in their hands and to get every last soul they know to the polls.

You must remember that despite all the hype about angry Teabaggers and foreign money, the bulk of the ads both here and around the country are from Dem candidates, Dem committees and Dem leaning groups supported by big labor. Most of their ads are either "They will take away yoru SS", "They support Outsourcing and then site the signing of an anti-tax pledge as proof", "The GOP candidate is extreme", "The GOP candidate is a dishonest businessman", and attempts to use abortion and gay issues to motivate the libs to vote. Most of the GOP ads often attack the person for a position they did or didn't take. Now of course there are exceptions like ILL and others. But in general, the Dems are the most desperate based of the ads.

My advise to the Dems would be to stop trying to spread hysteria and assault the Republican's character, and instead focus on issues. There current strategy is failling badly so it really doesn't matter.

My advise to the GOP would be to run ads highlighting the procedure behind the health care bill and the bad contents within to ram home a message of an out of countrol, unethical Dem leadership pushing bad legislation through congress and at the same time makes the GOP case that Health Care Reform needs to be repealled and a began over fresh. This will firm up the opposition and halt the bleeding among those who oppose it.
