Not at all. I'm confident all the candidates I support in my state will win, minus one, who I'll be working hard for on election day. There are some others I'd like to win, but I won't be distraught if they lose. I'm pretty confident we'll narrowly take the House, and also realize we won't take the Senate, so my expectations aren't ridiculously high.

More than anything, though, I'm nervous about the lame duck session.

I'm nervous for the next 2 years.  If the Republicans take the House but fall short in the Senate, couple that with the 2012 Presidential Campaign during the entire 112th Congress, we are going to get absolutely nothing done.  In effect, the lame-duck session will last until the start of the 113th Congress in January 2013 at the very earliest.

Yes, mainly that Baker may lose MA-GOV.

(Although that really wouldn't be that horrible, but he's too good a candidate to pass up).

I'm nervous that the Democrats won't be utterly curbstomped by the steel-toed boot of liberty.

No. I'll probably be following elections for decades... And sometimes my side will win big, and sometimes the other side will. I had better get used to it!

I'm cautiously optimistic only because Minnesota will be effectively more Democratic controlled if Dayton wins even if we lose some seats in the house and senate.  Otherwise I don't think any congressional seats will flip here.  Minnesota's power in the house will greatly diminish since none of the Republicans in office have much seniority.  Only John Kline has some decent time built up.. Erik Paulsen and Michele Bachmann.. well... Paulsen is no fundie extremist, but while Bachmann's voice is loud and irritating, she doesn't actually get anything done.  The 6th congressional district of Minnesota has both the best known and least accomplished congressperson in the state.

Well, no, of course they won't be, since none of their main opponents believe in liberty.

I wasn't being serious.

Well, I would have probably replied even if I had realised that. Wink

Same attitude I have, except you put the nostalgic upbeat tone at the end of your statement. Eventually, the Democrats will win a massive mandate during my lifetime, and control both halves of Congress with large majorities (wait... actually, that's already happened). Anyway, it'll happen again. And some day, the Republicans will win a massive mandate. These things aren't static.

Doesn't mean you can't emotionally engage with the situation, - just don't over-commit,  lol

Well, no, the elections don't really matter. Nothing will change anyway.

I am a bit nervous about Alaska though, as I really do not want Lisa Murkowski to have another term in the Senate.
