Our media has gotten several details of this story wrong from what people tell me and more will be proven wrong.  However, the one thing more inaccurate than ours is the Arab media.  I would think that it probably wasnt a UPS plane that left Yemen.  In countries with not much work they buyout space on other aircraft.  And of course it wouldnt be listed as a flight to Chicago.  These companies work on hub and spoke systems. Yemeni dude probably doesnt want to get sacked.

Air cargo and sea cargo security is really deficient and I'm surprised this has been one of the first tests.

So the CIA didn't even do their homework before staging this most recent "terror" hoax?

You'd think that they could come up with a decent fake bomb and send it themselves instead of this nonsense.

The problem is not the amount of people who could have potentially been killed in this, but the panic and money that has to be spent on mitigation measures.  Now a CBNR device smuggled into the US would have even greater economic impact. The biological would be the largest potential threat. Radiological wouldnt be too bad but would scare the crap out of people and cost of a lot of money on decontamination.

A strong policy is to be level headed and don't overreact. It does no one any good just to ignore gaps in security.
