Of couse, but I wonder why you even bother trying to bring some sanity in the region. It's a lost cause.

Didn't the "anti theft act" almost pass in the Assembly ? If it didn't, it's only thanks to fezzyfestoon.
 D
No, I don't think it is. Look at the Assembly votes, I got strong support from some 'blue avatars' you mightn't necessarily expect... clearly many feel that a small, but powerful clique of people with extreme tendencies have gotten out of control.

It was thanks to the Governor - it would have been a 3-4 defeat had all elected Representatives been in attendance, as opposed to 2 3-3 ties.

Still, the only fact there were 3 people to vote for it says a lot.

I think you're being too pessimistic - given what you're thinking it sounds like you should be relieved that there were 3 (4) votes to vote against it.

Sure, but are those four really ready to vote for a stimulus bill ? I hope so, but it will be a hard battle.

I think if the package is good - there will be enough sympathetic ears and open minds to consider it.

Basically the "tiebreakers" will be Rowan, Nik, and eventually Fezzy and Han : all conservatives. If you pass a stimulus, it won't just need to be "good", but also very, very lite. Something that will make Obama's actually look like socialism.

Fezzy is a non-issue on this front, it'll be Han.

Isn't the Lt Gov supposed to break ties in the Assembly ? At least, last I was there, it worked so. Tongue

Yeah, but getting fezzy to do his job is practically impossible lately.

Eh, I think you are used to that in Northeast. Grin

Yesterday I introduced three bills:

Deregistration Act

1) All Atlasian citizens shall have the right to deregister from the official voting roll by informing the Registrar General by public post.

2) After seven days since the public notice of deregistration have passed, the citizen's registration will be removed from the voting roll. The citizen may inform the Registrar General by public post that he/she rescinds his/her deregistration before the seven days have passed without penalty or change in registration status.

3) Any person who has deregistered shall no longer be allowed to vote in any federal poll or win election to any office in Atlasia. If a deregistered person is elected to any office in Atlasia, the office shall be declared vacant.

4) Any person who has registered shall not be able to register again in Atlasia for sixty days following his/her deregistration.

5) Any deregistered person who reregisters remains bound by Article V, Section 2, Clause 6 of the constitution and must reregister in the state and region he/she was registered in before deregisteration unless the appropriate amount of time has passed since his/her last move.

Freedom to Enjoy Oneself in Public Bill

1) This act shall apply only in the District of Columbia and federal territories that do not form a part of any region.

2) Possession of open containers of alcohol, the consumption of alcohol, and public intoxication by persons eighteen years of age or older in public open space and when riding on public transportation shall no longer be prohibited. All laws prohibiting the above are hereby repealed.

3) This act shall not be construed to allow possession of open containers of alcohol, the consumption of alcohol, or public intoxication in public buildings or in private vehicles.

Consumer Convenience in Pricing Bill

Effective January 1st, 2011 all public and private establishments must present/label all goods and services sold in said establishment with the total price paid by the consumer (including all national, regional and local sales tax).

For the record, I support 1, oppose 2, and am lukewarm towards 3.

1 is much needed, and 3 is something I toyed with in the past but no one seemed to care enough about. I strongly support both. Good initial set of bills, Lief!

1 is great as long as Hans supports it, 3 is cool, and 2 is a great sounding, but in practice god-awful idea. Expect to hear from me in Senate debates.

EDIT: Actually, my biggest problem with #2 is the repeal of public intoxication statutes.

I'm certainly supporting all three, though I am somewhat reserved on three.

Why does it work in most of Europe if it's such a god-awful idea?

Europe doesn't have prohibitions on public intoxication/drunk and disorderly? Huh The allowence on open containers and drinking on public transportation wouldn't surprise me, but are you sure about the other?

Speaking for Germany, I'm not sure on the law technically. I would be surprised if there was a law against public intoxication per se......and I imagine most Germans don't know it exists, if it exists.

I can say with certainty though that any such law isn't enforced at all.

Statement on the Death of Former Governor AndrewCT

I am very distraught and saddened today to here of the death of AndrewCT. I have fond memories of working with him in regional government in the Northeast, and he always been a great and hard-working public servant. My thoughts are with his family in this trying time. May he rest in peace.

He's been nominated to replace me as GTO Ambassador, so he is resigning so that we can have all the Special Elections at the same time.
