While he had his good points, this sudden infatuation everyone has with Russ Feingold is really quite bizarre. What impact would having Russ Feingold in the Senate for six more years really have had on your life? He's been Generic D for quite some time now.

Well hopefully Russ Feingold can become a more frequent activist / media commentator Palin style or adopt one of the causes he's known for, such as campaign finance reform. He has money, he has support, and he has a solid record.

I actually find myself agreeing with Libby. Don't forget he's the one Democratic Senator who actually voted in favor of proceding with the Senate's impeachment of Clinton. I never quite forgave him for that.

Indeed. All of the things he did that gave him an independent reputation were done before his more recent term started.

Doesn't even look like he lost by a lot, really. What a shame.

It was nice having him there, but one Feingold out of a hundred doesn't make a huge difference, unfortunately.

Feingold and Barrett hoped to get over 60% in Milwaukee and, of course, clean up in Dane County and they could pull it off.  Well, they did better than that in Milwaukee, but the most Conservative counties just had unbelievable turnout and that carried the day.

And Ron Johnson and Scott Walker pretty much piggybacked off each other, ending up with identical percentages of the vote (52%).

The big talk around WI political circles today is that Kohl will not run for re-election in 2012, and Feingold will seek that seat.  Many Dems don't like that idea, but Feingold wants another shot.

Well, don't know much about Kohl, but that's good enough for me. Smiley

He'll win the primary easily, so they'll have to get over it.

It would suck.  We'd have McCain-Feingold on steroids, and therefore, no freedom to speak out against incumbents at all in any meaningful forum.

Good riddance to Russ Feingold.

I would trade Johnson for Feingold, for Tom Campbell, replacing Barbara Boxer. That is about it. I like Johnson. Sorry Russ. Smiley

Not much.  I'd rather he have won than Johnson, but I can't think of any candidates I actively supported whom I'd be willing to give up for him.
