A Draft Alvin Greene 2012 meetup group in San Diego:

http://www.meetup.com/Alvin-Greene-2012/

Too bad there's only one member.  Though it looks like he's had 21 meetups with himself.

I'll crossover and vote in the Democratic Primary if Alvin runs.

I'd only cross over for Jimmy McMillan.

Greene is, of course, a joke.

Please.

All joking aside, the fact that this guy actually got 28% of the vote is pretty scary.  He got over 60% in a few majority black counties.  That just goes to show that 75-80% of black people will vote Democrat no matter who is on the ballot.  If you don't like DeMint, vote 3rd party, which about 10% did or write in Mickey Mouse.
Anyone here want to admit that they'd seriously vote for Alvin Greene and give a rational explanation?

Of course there are white communities, particularly in the South, that will give 90% of their vote to anyone white against anyone black. Sure, Alvin Greene looks almost like a set-up to show that Jim DeMint has some opposition in a State in which a large part of the population despises him. This is not Lugar '06 or even Thune '10.

The GOP has been playing the race card in the South.

You're wrong on that one.  In SC's first congressional district, a black Republican whose name escapes me at the moment beat Strom Thurmond's son in the GOP primary then went on to beat his DEM challenger, who is white.  Herman Cain nearly won a Republican primary in GA. Bottom line is that most southern conservatives don't factor in race when determining for whom to vote.  Back in '06, the GOP ran a black in 2 gubernatorial races.  Lynn Swann in PA and Michael Steele.  Neither of them got very much of the black vote simply because they were not Democrats.
Edit: race had little-nothing to do with why Obama lost most of the South.  It was all his liberal ideology.  Kerry didn't win any southern states and neither did Gore.  I'd wager that Obama actually did better among white southerners because the political climate was better for DEMs in 2008.

Electing Greene would have been tantamount to leaving the seat vacant.  I don't think I'm alone saying that I'd prefer a vacant seat to DeMint.

I'd vote for Alvin Greene, seriously, for the entertainment value. If he somehow beat a Republican Opponent and was elected President, imagine the strangeness that would ensue. He wouldn't show up for the inauguration. Half the State of the Union would be spent talking about action figures or something. Seeing Alvin Greene every day would make me very happy. I'd be just as happy with him being president as hosting some kind of talk show.

Not to mention that, being an idiot, he'd probably be immune to corruption.

DeMint already chickened out to avoid facing Alvin in general election. After all, losing SC in presidential would be a shame to him.

You'd think it would be pretty easy to find someone who isn't more of a joke than Obama.

He's pro-choice, so he can't run as a Republican.

Go Alvin! We need a common man in the White House!

The funny thing here is that 90% of african-americans would vote for greene against palin.

I understand that Demint won under 10% of blacks against Greene.

So what? I'd happily vote for Greene over Palin or the guy who started the recession.
