Seems that SC, VT, and NH are unique in that Dems are the "rural" party.

(I already knew that about VT and NH, but I didn't about SC).

As of today Democrats also won Baltimore County, Ehrlich's home county, here in MD.

Also in MA, the Dems have the Boston vote and the rural vote (Western Mass, the far SE, and the Islands) and the GOP is strongest in the suburbs.

Majority-black areas in South Carolina tend to be rural.

Well yes, I know that since I live here, but the GOP will still win more "space" in MA in a 50-50 election.

Whoops, the media must not be updating their results anymore. I'll change the map.

The REP party of CO really screwed up with all that red I see in the mountains and throughout the state, shame on them. Dan Maes should of dropped out, but got too full of himself.

Hick got over 50% of the vote.

That makes sense.  What's O'Malley's lead there?

Crap, when I edited the map I accidentally put in the senate map instead.  Sorry for the mix-up!

It will be back up soon.

EDIT:  It is now fixed.

You have Yolo County, CA marked with the wrong party. It should be Democratic.

SE Ohio gave their House districts to the GOP, but I see they stuck with the DEM for governor.
Interesting those two counties in the SW tip of CO that went for Maes - what that about?

Low media penetration of all types, I'm guessing, so they wouldn't be as likely to know that Tancredo was the de facto nominee.

Remember, Strickland represented OH-06 in Congress for over a decade before becoming governor.

uh, Dubie won the most rural areas (the areas bordering Canada and Essex County). Shumlin won in Chittenden (Burlington), Windham (Brattleboro) and Washington (Montpelier). The only exception is Rutland, which is more Republican.

but yeah, overall, the Democrats have tons of rural strength in Vermont.

Like much of the Four Corners Region, Montezuma County (Cortez) is in the Albuquerque-Santa Fe TV market.   So is neighboring La Plata County (Durango) - but that appears to have gone for the Democrat.  I don't think Dolores County is in that market - but it doesn't appear to be heavily populated, anyway.

So Nevada, Wyoming, and Nebraska Republican candidates swept all counties; Maine and Rhode Island Democrats carried none; Hawaii and Arkansas counties were all Democratic.
