Well, he will round up about 30 votes maybe. Maybe the disaffected 30 should say that they will all become Pubbies, unless he is elected Minority Leader or something. That would make things interesting. Tongue

Making a guy in a R+10 district the leader for the Democrats would be a disaster in the making. If there are actually 30 members who would vote for him, rather than someone else other than Pelosi, then they deserve to switch to the pubbies and then get primaried.

Rather the job should be handed off to Chris Van Hollen or someone else. I guess Pelosi really doesn't like Hoyer, which is why she is not stepping aside. She should though, being a San Francisco librul and all. Roll Eyes

Von Hollen ain't running.  Shuler is. So, that is your choice. Maybe the disaffected could write in Murkowski's name or something, assuming they can spell it correctly, in non cursive handwriting. Tongue

Actually that is Pelosi's choice to replace her, and if Steny played along, I bet that is what would have happened. Pelosi is staying on to screw Hoyer, and not in the good sense.

Their main objective is to make Obama a one-term President.

Not exactly an unpopular idea with the American electorate right now.

The investigation threats are overblown.

Ehh almost half of Americans support the president when unemployment is near 9.6%. I wonder what happens if unemployment goes down to 8-8.5% by 2012. A big if though.

If we still have 9.5% unemployment two years from now, you bet Obama won't be there anymore. A lot of people will still blame Bush for getting us into the mess, but Obama is charged with getting us out. If he can't do that, or show us a positive trend line at least, he will be gone. It's just that Obama doesn't need a lot of success to get re-elected. Getting unemployment down to 8.5% is nothing great imo but that should be enough for him to win, since he is not blamed for the crisis except for by partisans.
