I see so many people around me, people I know, some I don't know that well, who are constantly in trouble. Problems with the Police, problems with spousal abuse, going to court, problems with their driving and suspended licenses, problems with smoking dope....

and I ask....WHY?

How come I've never had a citation. Not for anything. No driving issues, never tried drugs, no citations for underage drinking or being busted at a party....if I can do it...why can't everyone else?

It makes me feel like an outcast when the only times I've been in Police cars were during ride alongs with my father RESPONDING to calls...not making them.

One could argue I am not that social. That's not true. I've taken many trips, I've been to parties, I've been drunk (after 21), ect. But how come I've never had the Police issues like so many others have?

Perhaps should this go in the "Religion and Philosophy" board. Wink

It is a good thing that you are not in trouble with the law. Cherish that fact, don't feel like an outcast becaue of it.

The place you live sounds pretty white trashy, so that's probably the answer to that question. (Also pro-tip: being arrested from something like speeding or doing drugs or drinking underage doesn't make you "bad.")

Indeed, the area surrounding Cleveland has many bad spots. But the particular place I live now is actually not that bad. I just think too many people use the Police for little things. (A husband and wife have a stupid argument, the wife calls the cops. The husband is arrested for being aggressive towards his wife in front of Police. The wife quickly forgives but it's too late. Suddenly there is paperwork, people are thrown in jail, bail is set, court dates appear, people miss court, warrants for arrests are made and the whole thing snowballs.)

People are idiots.  They just don't know how to not get caught.  I'll admit I've had my brushes with DUI, but every case it was an unusually aggressive NJ state trooper looking to screw with a PA license plate and every time it was for a minor amount of alcohol, I passed the sobriety test and they realize they'd be barking up the wrong tree.

The 'bad' people (in any case the ones who caused the trouble) are mostly not in Ohio, Reaganfan - they're on the Riviera, in Palm Beach or Manhattan's upper east side, the Hamptons, etc.  The people you are talking about are victims.

And being the son of a cop probably gives you a jaded view of things.......moreso than other people.  You hear about all of the sh**t and none of the good things.q

I'll bet the cops know where the good things are too - where to get good hookers, drugs, etc.

I grew up around cop kids.  They think they can get away with everything.  And dare I say, they typically are a bit racist.

That sounds awful. I've never had to deal with those things. My advice is to leave where you are as soon as possible!

I agree, though I'm not sure that leaving is necessary.

At any rate, Reaganfan, you'll find yourself much happier when you disassociate yourself from the miscreants. I know I did.

You just notice it because it's foreign and you can't relate to them.  It's likely not as common as it seems, it just stands out to you because it's strange and different from your life.

Naso is so incredibly unreal character.

He has said so many off the wall things (like in 2005 when he claimed there wasn't a recession earlier in the decade because he hadn't seen any factories closing in Ohio) that you have to think it's an act but it's real. Forget Sarah Palin; Naso needs his own show on TLC.

(Also pro-tip: being arrested from something like speeding or doing drugs or drinking underage doesn't make you "bad.")

Is that what you would teach your children?

Depends how old they are. Mike is in his mid-20s or something. He should have a more mature perspective on these things than the apparent good-bad dichotomy he evidences here.
