Well, Qatar would be nice because all the stadiums are right next to each other, unlike a ridiculous country like USA or Russia where games would be played in stadiums hundreds of miles apart.

Morgan Freeman!

Sometimes I forget that he is American, because I forget that he is not Nelson Mandela.

I'm watching the video on FIFA's website. It doesn't help that Freeman, who is nearly perfect, "missed a page."  Sad

Yeah, that was dumb. Clinton's speech was really good though (as a speech made by Bill Clinton is wont to be).

Don't know, I only caught the American one. I waited like ten minutes for the Japanese one after that, but then I remembered that Japan isn't going to win anyway so I decided to not waste my time.

After watching the 2018 bids, go Belgium/Netherlands!

I hope they win. The two million bicycles thing sounds awesome.

Huh. I have a hard time seeing the United States congress agree to most of those things.

Eh, plenty of leagues are messed up when the World Cup is held in June: most of the Southern hemisphere leagues, the MLS, the Scandinavian leagues, etc. They seem to get by fine. Why are the Western European leagues unable to adapt to a winter world cup?

Why aren't they that important? They're as much a part of FIFA as the other leagues are.

Uh 2010 was good? There's no reason why location would have an impact on the quality of on-field play anyway (other than weather, but the weather was normal in Japan/Korea and South Africa).

Blatter was opposed to Qatar in 2010 (Platini was the one pushing it) and is still opposed to it. Platini is Blatter's likely successor but they hate each other. Once you understand these two facts, then all of Blatter's actions make perfect sense.

The Channel Islands (and Isle of Man) already have their own international football tournament, thank you very much: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_at_the_Island_Games

What the hell, they've already had it twice! Half of the games in the United States would basically be home games for them anyway.
