SUPER TUESDAY!!! POLLS CLOSE IN GEORGIA!!!
7:00EST-Welcome to CNN Super Tuesday election coverage. Only one state has closed their polls right now. That state is Georgia. And at this time, we can say that this race is to close to call at the moment but we can confirm that it will most likely be a two way race between Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee. James Carville, what can we expect here?

James-Well Wolf, I think we are going to see a close race in Georgia tonight. Palin and Huckabee are virtually tied in most polls, plus Romney and Trump are a not a factor here. The results here could show if this is a Palin type of night or a Huckabee type of night.

You're seriously underestimating Romney in Georgia. Romney performed extremely well in Fulton County in 2008, keeping him close. And in 2010, despite the strong Tea Party year, Karen Handel was boosted in Fulton County, and only lost due to the run-off system implemented in Georgia.

MANY STATES CLOSE POLLS!!! PROJECTIONS TO MAKE!!!

7:00 EST-Many states are closing their polls at this hour and we have some states where we can project a winner while in some races it is to close or to early to call. Let's take a look at some of the early winners!

Huckabee will win in Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Oklahoma

Mitt Romney will take Delaware

Candy-No real surprises here, Wolf. Romney and Huckabee were expected to win these states easily. We now just have to see what the states that we believe are going to be close turn out.

James-Yes, Candy-Connecticutt, Illinois, Missouri, and New Jersey are to close to call at this point in time but we can confirm that Huckabee has a exit poll lead in Missouri and Illinois- a bad sign for Romney.

Candy-Yes, if Huckabee can pull of wins in Illinois and Missouri, it will for sure increase confidence that this a night that will be dominated by Huckabee.

Final Super Tuesday Results

Huckabee-Red
Romney-Blue
Trump-Green

Since Palin failed to win a state on Super Tuesday, she suspends her campaign the next day but refuses to make an endorsement. Trump also decides to drop out but gives his support and his delegates to Mitt Romney. In the delegate count, Romney has a narrow lead because of the delegates that Trump gave to him. It is a two way now.

MITT ROMNEY WINS PENNSYLVANIA AND NOMINATION
On April 2, 2012 Mitt Romney wins a 55-45 victory in PA and Mike Huckabee drops out of the race. It is now a Romney vs. Obama race. During April Obama names David Plouffe as his Campaign Chairman while Romney chooses Ed Gillespie to run his campaign. The VP Nominee "short list" is released in Late May from the Romney campaign.

Short List
Senator John Thune-SD
House Minority Leader Eric Cantor-VA
Former Governor Tim Pawlenty-MN
Former Governor and Former Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge-PA
Governor Bobby Jindal-LA
Governor Rick Perry-TX
Senator John Cornyn-TX
Senator Marco Rubio-FL

Rubio, Jindal, and Thune are being considered the frontrunners at this point

Presidential Poll-June 1, 2012
Barack Obama 43%
Mitt Romney 42%
Undecided 15%

In a short break from campaigning, Queen Elizabeth II dies in her sleep on June 4, 2012. Barack Obama represents the US at her funeral. Prince Charles will become King Charles in July. Walter Mondale also died in June.

The campaign heats up in July with Obama ripping Romney on his executive experience claiming that he has very little being a one term Governor of Massachusetts. Romney responds with an ad showing his business experience in contrast to Obama's little experience in business. It helps Romney because unemployment remain rather high, at 8.6%. Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck briefly consider independent bids but both reluctantly endorse Romney. In early August troops begin to pull out of Afghanistan but the situation is still not stable there. Meanwhile Chelsea Clinton gives birth to her first child, William "Bill" Mezvinsky. As the conventions approach, the 2012 map also takes shape with new battleground state polls released.

On August 14 it is announced that Bobby Jindal, Governor of Louisiana was chosen to be the VP Nominee of the Republicans

Later that month, the Republican Convention is held. Sarah Palin, Rick Perry, Jeb Bush, John Thune and many others give speeches. Marco Rubio gives the keynote in which he declares-"America is tired of Barack Obama and his socialist policies-they are also tired of the Democratic Congress and their socialist policies-America has a message to Barack Obama-Go back to Kenya or wherever you came from" This portion of the speech is described as "below the belt" and even "racist". Even though the rest of the convention goes well-Rubio's speech hits Romney in the polls.

Presidential Poll
Obama 47%
Romney 42%
Undecided 11%

The Democratic Convention, held in Charlotte, NC, goes much better. Their is a video tribute to the Kennedy Family and the keynote speaker is Andrew Coumo. Obama also gives a well received speech about the dangers of the far right. After the convention Obama still holds a small lead.

The campaigning continues in September with both candidates blitzing the battleground states. Obama focuses mainly on Virginia, Wisconsin, and Ohio while Romney is trying to capture Florida, Missouri, and Ohio. Both candidates are getting huge crowds. On September 16, 2012 the first Presidential debate is held in Phoneix, Arizona, moderated by Brian Williams of NBC. The debate focuses on the economy. Romney continues to slam Obama on his economic policy and calling the economy "issue number one" in his administration. Pres. Obama has trouble responding to the question and is judged by many the loser of the debate.

Presidential Poll-Sept. 23, 2010
Obama 47%
Romney 46%
Undecided 7%

In late September Tea Party groups start to air ads claiming Barack Obama was not born in the USA with the slogan-"is he really one of us"? Romney denounces the ads but does nothing to stop it. On October 7, 2012 the second debate is held in Pittsburgh, PA. The debate, about foreign policy, was a considered a solid win for Obama. He came out as an experienced diplomat while Romney came out as uneducated about the issue. But the Obama win in the debate is overshadowed the next day with unemployment going from 8.5% to 8.9% and Romney claiming a double dip recession is on the way. This seriously tightens up the race and in some polls Romney jumps ahead.

Presidential Poll-October 11, 2012
Romney 48%
Obama 46%
Undecided 6%

Romney also releases his Debt Reduction Plan which mostly cuts spending on social programs and it is popular with most Americans. His poll number increase and he continues to stay ahead of Obama but within the margin of error.

Presidential Poll-October 18, 2012
Romney 49%
Obama 46%
Undecided 5%

The third debate, about social issues, is largely uneventful and gets low ratings. It is judged a draw. A new generic congressional ballot shows Republicans with a narrow lead-50-48. The campaigns blitz to the finish as Romney continues to show ads against Obama's handling of the economy but Obama pulls a repeat of 2008 and does a half-hour address in which he highlights his accomplishments and suggests that a Romney Administration would simply revert to the policies of George W. Bush. A final poll shows the two about tied.

Final Presidential Poll-November 5, 2012
Romney 50%
Obama 49%
Undecided 1%

FIRST RESULTS COME IN!!! ROMNEY TAKES EARLY LEAD!!!
Good Evening and welcome back to CNN Election Night 2012. The first batch of results are coming in and let's take a look!

CNN can project that Mitt Romney will win Georgia, Kentucky, and South Carolina.

CNN can also project that Barack Obama will be the winner of Vermont

Indiana and Virginia are to close to call at this point.

Blue-Romney
Red-Obama
Green-To close to call
Grey-Polls not closed

As we turn to the senatorial and governor's races tonight. We can project that Bernie Sanders will defeat state auditor Tom Salmon easily. The senate race in Virginia between former DNC Chair Tim Kaine and former Senator George Allen is to close to call at this point. We can also project that Mike Pence will win the Governor's Mansion in Indiana and Peter Shumlin will retain the office of governor in Vermont. Candy, what do you make of these early results?

Candy-No surprises  so far, but we do expect Indiana to go for Romney within the hour but the state that may decide the election is Virginia. We will have to see what happens there, for it could determine our next president.

I know I'm late to the game on this, but I find it a little hard to believe that the "Obama is from Kenya" conspiracy is playing such a prominent part in the 2012 election. That whole birther/Kenyan movement is a far right extremist position, yet you have Marco Rubio, a Republican keynote speaker, actually saying on live television in front of millions of people "Mr. President, go back to Kenya or wherever you came from"?? I know you can make whatever you want out of your time line, but I just think that's a little silly. Almost as silly as making the 9/11-truther movement a key plank of the 2012 Democratic Party's platform.

I'm not saying it's the party's platform. A lot of other Republicans denounced it and Rubio said he "did not mean to come out that way"
