I've said this within the last 45 minutes, but yes. Even though I go to a Catholic school, I know people that hate gays but don't give a sh**t about abortion.

Yes: this set of positions is actually still pretty common among olds.

I don't really ask people what their positions on abortion and gay marriage are.

Agreed with this. I'm sure I've met a bunch of people of the sort, but I've never met anyone who I know to hold that combination of views.

My parents used to be pro-choice and against gay marriage but this was back in the early 2000s.

A majority of D's likely were that in the 90s.

I don't solicit this information, but it still amazes me that this is the way the country leans.  It might just be who I associate with, but I can't imagine this being true in a few decades.  I've never met someone openly anti-gay but pro-choice.

Quite a few people call themselves "moderates" just because they are pro-choice, while otherwise being pretty far to the right on virtually every other issue.

I find that being pro-life (to 'x' extent) and pro gay marriage is a quite common position amongst liberal Catholic circles in Glasgow.

What?

I can say, though, that nothing annoys me in politics more than people who are right-of-center everywhere BUT who are pro-choice (so, the people Obamaisdabest mentions).

So, yes, I hate to be in agreement with Obamaisdabest but they're usually moderate heroes. And they're always detestable.

So you they have to be right of center on all issues or they suck?  That's what.

For the most part, yes. I only vote for true conservatives, you see Tongue

But it's more due to the fact that they're moderate heroes (and thus annoying), and that abortion specifically is one of the issues that I'm least willing to give up on.

Both of my parents for starters. And here I am less pro-choice than either of them, and went the other way on the gay thing. Oh dear BRTD, you need to get out more. Smiley
