Awful, It would make me quite happy if he came in third. Unlikely as that is.

"Emmer has been characterized as "the most conservative gubernatorial candidate in Minnesota history" by his opponents[9], and as a "true conservative" by his friends.[10] He has supported "conscience clause" legislation that would allow pharmacists to refuse to dispense contraception.[11] He also sponsored a constitutional amendment that would have allowed Minnesota to opt out of federal laws.[12]

Emmer is anti-abortion, supports business rights ahead of organized labor, and is strongly opposed to tax increases.[13] In July of 2010, Emmer said he supported lowering the minimum wage for waiters and bartenders, saying the cut in the minimum wage would help businesses."

Ugh. (Okay, so the second to last sentence is just par for the course for Republicans. But wtf on the last one?)

Essentially the federal minimum wage for employees that receive tips is something ridiculously low, like $2.13/hour (you can tell it was set a long time ago and basically ignored since). Minnesota like most states requires a far higher minimum wage. Emmer went on some deal about how that hurts businesses and claims some people in such positions make over $100k a year according to tax returns (which is true, considering that "some" refers to a number of people who can you can count in the single digits.)

Snowguy and me have more info in the Minnesota Gubernatorial thread in Gubernatorial.

Yeah.. he got pwned pretty bad for the minimum wage gaffe.  He won't be bringing that up again.
