We can just end voting now and have you count right away, since Xahar tipped the Presidential election in favor of Dr. Cynic, there's nothing worth waiting for now.

The wonderful Quebecois intellect of the party, everyone. Tongue

Alright, thanks to Max, we actually know the council now. (Voting is now over.)

Kalwejt,
HappyWarrior,
Sewer Socialist,
Hashemite,
Al.

Due to Xahar's tiebreaking vote, Dr. Cynic is now President of the UDL.

The council should now meet and elect the Party chairman. I'll crate a new thread for them to do their work there.

Also, I'm really really sorry to Polnut. He deserves a position in this party, as he's been one of the most vocal voices moving us along and was with us in the beginning hours. I would implore the new Council to elect Polnut to be chairman of the party.

I thank everyone who voted for me! Thank you to Purple State for being more than worthy of an "opponent"... Thanks to Xahar for choosing me with his tiebreaking vote.

I'd ask the council choose Polnut to be chairman. He's worked very hard for the party and will no doubt do so in the future.

In the interest of expediency, I'd like to hold confirmation votes on our current unofficial color(s) and logo. If there's a majority no vote, then we will have a full-blown debate on what our logo and color(s) should be, if people approve of the current choices, then we will continue on with them officially on the books.

(Vote will be open for 24 hours.)

I think Orange-Red is a great color and a unique combination for an Atlasian party. I'm all for it.

Are we not even debating a logo? Looking at alternatives? This seems like a awful unethical way to go about things.

I voted no on the logo to give an oppertunity for those who want to offer an alternative to do so.

I'm just doing it out of expediency. If people vote no then we can look for alternatives for the logo. I'm perfectly fine with that. I just don't want to spend too much time on loose ends when there's an election right around the corner.

If you'd like to look for or make some alternatives while the vote is happening, I don't see a problem with it.

For starters:

And that does not even begin to address this... flower... that nobody knows what it is. (Ideally we can know what kind of flower we are using, for all we know this breed is called an assflower)

As for the flower, my preference is this:

but I'd be willing to settle for almost any of these:

I really don't like the fist rose thing... I REALLY like whatever that symbol is that Antonio has in his campaign banner... I prefer something that's more of a representation of the flower, rather than ... look, here's a flower...

Plus... I think the red-rose is far too closely attached to the labor/socialist parties... not everyone in this party affiliates themselves with the traditional labor movement... I like the idea of keeping ... an homage... but also showing a broader range.

PS - I'm changing my vote on the logo.

Noted about the vote change. And yeah, I think a red rose is pretty cliche. I love the symbol personally, but we are the "broad left" afterall, and not everyone may agree with the symbolism of the rose.

I could back Blue's suggestion, and, I also like what Antonio has.

I'm just immensely frustrated that something Al admitted was "thrown together quickly" became the "more holy than the bible" logo, just because he was online to post at the right time.

I swear that I didn't mean for it to turn out that way, we've just been operating under "express" mode in our convention, since we had so much business to deal with with very little time. Tongue

I do like Antonio's logo. It's a rose, but in an unconventional form, so it's not necessarily taken as a "Socialist/Labor rose" and more of a modern symbol, but still recognizable on some level as that to those that share that sympathy.

I don't really know how Antonio put together that logo, but if there was some way we could incorporate that into a new logo, or something similar to it, that'd be cool with me.

I abstain on the logo vote. Nothing against the logo itself, but I think it's worth a debate as some people suggested. The symbol in my banner is the logo of the Norwegian Labour Party, FYI. As for the design, you can thank Hashemite. Smiley
