Decided to start a poll based around options from the Victoria: Revolutions video game. First is ideology. Vote and comment Smiley

Communist for me.

Liberal, or possibly socialist.

I do know though that I have low militancy but very high consciousness.

What are the definitions for those ideologies?  Not sure whether "liberal" would mean classical liberal, or liberal in the modern sense.  I suppose "anarcho-liberal" would be libertarian?

Anarcho-liberal = libertarian, right?

That, I suppose.

Liberal can be either - many liberal parties start in 1836 with 'laissez-faire' as their official economic ideology (though a few, like the Partido Liberal of Brazil, start with 'interventionism' instead) and switch to 'interventionism' c.1900

Anarcho-Liberal is probably libertarians yes, but its hard to tell... when they get into power, a dictatorship is established bizarrely enough. I guess the game can't simulate anarchy though.

I've always assumed that Vicky's "Anarcho-Liberal Presidential Dictatorship" was something like Revolutionary France's government.

I voted "Conservative" before I saw that it wasn't based on modern times/real life. What is the definition of Conservative vs. Liberal in this case?

Well, in Vicky 1836, conservatives were in support of some  government intervention (as opposed to laissez-faire liberals), moralism, a cautious attitude towards immigration and pro-military. Still, there are plenty of variants... protectionist Conservatism vs free trade Conservatism is about 50/50, and many Conservative parties go laissez-faire after 1900.

Depends. Liberal I guess, hoping that they are not laisser-faire bigots.

Probably liberal, but given the time period it likely refers to the oligarchic 'liberalism' in the Spanish mold.

I fit very poorly into the Vicky classifications ("boring American liberal" doesn't fit very well in any of these Tongue), but I'd probably be a Socialist.
