I say Boycott Oklahoma! If Tom Coburn doesn't support giving aid to 9/11 responder then I think no one should buy products from Oklahoma.

Having the ex-Supersonics seems like punishment enough to me.

It doesn't have to be from a company based in Oklahoma to have been made in Oklahoma, you know.

Kind of hard for me to do that considering, ya know, I kind of live in Oklahoma.
Besides, you think that getting an internet forum of a few dozen active members to boycott OK products is going to change Tom Coburn's mind?

Even harder if you don't.

I suggest from now on you buy all your groceries in Kansas, and refuse to use state roads in getting there. That'll show Coburn.

So you're saying I go an hour and a half to two out of my way just to get groceries to spite Tom Coburn?
Sorry pal, not happening on a college kid budget.  To some of us things like I don't know survival mean more than making useless (again how are a few dozen people on the internet going to make any impact?) political statements.  Don't get me wrong, I hate Tom Coburn I believe he's a turd, but this is USELESS.  I mean hell look at how many people boycotted Arizona and how Jan Brewer still doesn't give a flying blue sh*t about people opposed to the new immigration laws there.

Boycott Oklahoma for stealing the Seattle Supersonics!

Having the ex-Supersonics seems like punishment enough to me.

Actually, now the Thunder are entering their third calendar year as a winning team.  We came really close to knocking off the Lakers in the first round in 2010 and now we keep switching back and forth with Utah for the division lead.  One thing the Thunder can do in Oklahoma City that they couldn't do in Seattle, WIN!!!  We had a poor record in our first year in OKC in 2008-2009, but that was primarily in the 2008 portion of our schedule.  We started turning the corner on New Year's Eve 2008 and then we really blossomed in 2009-2010 and even more so far in 2010-2011.

Perhaps this sounds a bit silly, but how could this go over well? If such a boycott gained traction what good would it do? Most Democrats and many independents in Oklahoma already oppose the person in question, and I suspect a boycott would not inspire them to turn out in greater numbers for the next election. By contrast, some in Oklahoma could perceive this to be a radical move that puts minor political squabbles above the welfare of the local economy during hard economic times. In the end, it could alienate folks who see the ends (i.e. punishing an entire state of 3.7 million inhabitants for the actions of one man on one issue) as not justifying the means? There is a risk that frustration would mobilize people not to replace Tom Coburn so much as to oppose anyone associated with the boycott. Am I reading into this the wrong way?

Not that I expect this is going to snowball into anything significant, but I'm just sayin'...
