I haven't the slightest clue. I'd say  if both picked the VP's they did, Clinton would win by a slight margin. He would win the South easily, but Reagan would win California. Thats a tough call.

I have to post my hypoythetical question: If McCain entered the race today as a third party candidate, and built up his own party how would the election end up?

Reagan would win easily.  Clinton was not a very popular president - I dont think he ever broke 50% of the vote.  Reagan was at a whole other level.

Reagan would beat Clinton by a comfortable margin. Nothing along the lines of what he beat Mondale by, but Reagan would win about 55-45 or 54-46. The most interesting question to ask...would Reagan carry California? When Reagan won by huge margins in California, the state was very, very different. You have a much larger minority presence now, plus the younger generation in California is WAY farther left than the previous generation. Most current Californians in their teens and twenties think the Cold War was a conflict involving Eskimos...LOL

BillyJeff was a piker compared to the maestro politician of Ronald Wilson Reagan.   It would be Jordan vs. Bird, but Jordan would end up winning easily.

Reagan/McCain?     Why would Reagan want McCain?  The senator from AZ is only marginally Republican and cosponsors nearly any Democrat legislation that comes down the pike.     I say Reagan/Dubya
