It's official - Oklahoma has her first female governor.  Republican Mary Copeland Fallin took the oath of office at 12:02 pm on Monday, January 10, 2011.  She is the 27th Governor of the State of Oklahoma.

Sorry to hear that.....you have my sympathy.

Dan Malloy scooted his way into the Governors mansion on the 5th. When he is up for re-election in 2014, I could care less what happens, since its 4 years from now.

I didn't vote for her, but I'm looking forward to her administration.  I'm excited about what she'll do for our state.

What exactly does an establishment politician have to do for you not to like him/her?

I just realized something.  The administration of Mary Fallin, if it is successful, will not end until January 2019.  That would put me 3 1/2 months shy of age 37.  At the very least, she'll be in there until January 2015, 3 1/2 months shy of age 33 for me.  It is very possible that this governor could take me into the beginning of my "mid-life" years.

Did anyone even show up for Nathan Deal's Atlanta inauguration yesterday?  It snowed in Atlanta.  Snow shuts down everything in much of the South.

In teeth-chattering cold, new Oklahoma governor vows to support and 'offend' the Constitution

OKLAHOMA CITY — Is she or is she not the governor of Oklahoma?

Mary Fallin was sworn in as Oklahoma's first female governor Monday, but in reciting the oath of office she really didn't promise to "support, obey and defend the Constitution."

At an outdoors ceremony in teeth-chattering cold, Fallin told state Supreme Court Chief Justice Steven W. Taylor that she would "support, obey and offend" the U.S. and state constitutions.

Spokesman Alex Weintz says Fallin dropped the "d" in "defend," but says he was amazed that anyone could speak clearly during a ceremony greeted by falling snow and 29-degree temperatures.

Regardless of what she said, under Oklahoma law Fallin is still the state's governor. Taylor says she signed a copy of the oath in the governor's office following the ceremony.

Terry Branstad took the oath of office as Iowa's new governor today.  It ended a break of 12 years since he left office in 1999, ending a 16 year tenure that began in 1983.

The problem is that you don't need to outlaw sanity in Oklahoma.

Now, but she celebrated her inauguration by presiding over an execution just a day after taking office.
