this puts Kerry to the right of Ford, and Ford closer to Cobb than Bush.

That's why I say this chart is BS

No, the test is way wrong on where it judges public officials to be.

the test is British. In British terms, Kerry might be right wing of the center of British opinion. Maybe not, of course, but hey Cheesy

Kerry isn't as liberal as people say, but I've always thought that was absolutely nuts.

would Ford be slightly left of center in Britain?

Kerry is actually far more of a centrist than the right-wing would have had you believe.  In 4 years we could run Evan Bayh and they would call him the most liberal Senator in Congress.

Name one issue Kerry wasn't liberal on.

1) Homeland Security -- Consistently voted to support funding
2) Immigration -- Opposed allowing more foreign workers into US, opposed welfare for illegals, opposed increasing allowances of immigrants from Hispanic nations.
3) Taxes -- Like it or not, he was in favor of a tax cut for those earning less than $200K.  That isn't liberal, it is moderate.
4) China -- He opposed linking human rights to trade with China.

1 - Wow, he actually cared about homeland security. He must not be a liberal after all. Though he could have voted for some of the weapons systems.

2 - Sure

3 - He was for a more "progressive" income tax

4 - Sure

So in regards to Mexico and China, he wasn't your typical liberal. I don't think that's what we were talking about.

He voted against the Unborn Victims of Violence Act, wanted government-run health care, voted against the first Gulf War, tried to raises taxes on the top income bracket, and thought the US owed its allegience to the UN.

That, in this country, makes him an ultraliberal. There are more liberal people, but not more liberal Senators.

Probably not.  I'm a US centrist, in Britain a conservative.

Also the questions are written in a way that if you think through them all ith 100% logic, you get a bias.

Example of what's wrong with the compass--
Mothers may have careers, but their first duty is to be homemakers.

Guy A: No, mothers should not have careers
Guy B: No, their first duty is not to be homemakers

Philip has his finger on something.  The wording of some of the questions could easily skew the results.

Good point, it's worded in such a way that people are more likely to disagree than agree, simply because it's really two questions in one.
