Brazil’s growing economy has seen unemployment dip to record lows as companies absorb more and more workers for their growing operations, reports the AP.

A report from the state IBGE stats bureau showed that unemployment had fallen to as low as 5.7%.

Some sectors of the economy are reportedly doing so well they are complaining of a shortage of workers. Brazil is a member of the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) bloc of growing economic superpowers.

The Santander banking group has said that it has delayed the filling of temporary posts as it was struggling to find enough applicants. Another bank, Bradesco, said it had raised wages so as to counter poaching.

The rise in employment has been accompanied by healthy pay rises in almost all sectors.

Globalization is about equalizing wages at a lower level around the world.  The US still has a very, very long way to fall.  Thanks, neo-liberalism.

Interesting. Brazillian stocks listed on a US-exhange have increased 17.3% in the past half year. Which is below what US equities have.
