Right here.

In the House they debate the Electoral Vote Proptional Representation Act.  The act propose each state give electoral votes to candidates based on popular vote of candidates.  They pass it 295-140.  Then it's sent to the Senate and they pass it 72-28.  President Cuomo signs it into law on July 1st, 1995.  It will go into affect in 1996.  President Cuomo calls this "A great day for democracy."

You know, if I get the time, I can copy a map onto paint and put in the numbers for each candidate myself. It's a tedious process and it might look confusing, but if I have time I'll try.

Thanks Cathcon.

In early December the Senate votes 57-43 in favor of Vice President Kerrey for Vice President.  In the House the vote is 270-165 in favor of President Cuomo.

Therefore Cuomo/Kerrey is re-elected in the House and Senate, respectively.

Because of the results in this Presidential Election Ted Kennedy states "We will make more reforms to the Electoral College in the next Congress, if not totally get rid of it."  Senate Minority Leader Barry Goldwater Jr. states "I will work with Senator Kennedy on this legislation in the next session."

On January 3rd, 1997 the 105th Congress begins.  Senator Barry Goldwater Jr. states "The Republicans can stall some liberal legislation being brought forward."

On January 20th, 1997 President Cuomo is re-inaugurated.  "Today Americans I believe we're on a new course.  We need to bring more reforms over the next 4 years.  I also plan to keep fighting for the middle class.  Thanks and God Bless America."

In late February the House debates the Budget Act of 1997 which would keep an 8% tax for the rich and funding for healthcare.   It would have to be renewed in 4 years. The House votes 230-205.  In the Senate it's a different story.  The vote to bring up debate on the Budget Act of 1997 is 53-37, with Senator Jim Jeffords being the only Republican to vote in favor of debate.
The Senate brings up Fair And Balanced Budget Act of 1997.  This would have a balance in spending over the next 4 years on social and military issues.  It would also put a 2% tax on the rich.  The tax issue was debated over a few weeks and finally agreed at 2% tax increase on the rich, instead of an 8% tax increase.  The final Senate vote is 59-41.  Then the House votes 245-190.  President Cuomo signs it on March 19th, 1997.

On May 2nd, 1997 the Labour Party wins a majority in the U.K. election.  Tony Blair will become the next PM.  Blair states "Thanks to the United Kingdom for electing my party into power.  We will do alot here as well as continue to have a great relationship with the United States."

Cuomo states, upon Blair's election, "We will work well with Tony Blair over the next few years."

In late summer the House passes the Electoral College Reform Act of 1997 260-175.  It would get rid of the Electoral College over the period of 8 years.  The Senate passes it 65-35.  President Cuomo signs it into law on August 29, 1997.  House Speaker Tom Foley, House Minority Leader Newt Gingrich, Senate Majority Leader Ted Kennedy and Senate Minority Leader Barry Goldwater Jr. appear together to say "Democracy just got brighter today with this 8 year plan to abolish the Electoral College."

Later in the fall of 1997, the Republicans urge the Democrats to bring up repeal of healthcare reform (again).  Ted Kennedy says "There's too many people who would be without health insurance if the Republicans were in charge."  Barry Goldwater, Jr. states "I tried to do this when I was President.  The only way it can be done is if we have 60 votes in the Senate to avoid a filibuster plus a Republican President.  Thank you."

On January 6th, 1998 a spacecraft (Lunar Prospector) is launched into space to fly around the moon.

On January 8th, 1998 Ramzi Yousef is sentenced to life in prison for the WTC 1993 bombing.  President Cuomo states "We finally put the man responsible for the World Trade Center bombing 5 years ago on trial.  He was sentenced for his crimes.  Hopefully in the future we will never have to worry about a terror plot.  Since the passage of the Security Act of 1993 we haven't had any attacks on American soil.  Because of that act we are now able to catch people before they commit a crime."

On May 8th The Wizard of Oz airs for the final time on CBS.  It will later be broadcast on cable.

On May 29th, former AZ Senator (and 1964 GOP nominee) dies.  President Cuomo states "We must remember a man who stood up for what he believed in.  He may have been a Republican but I have total respect for everyone no matter what their political beliefs are.  Anyhow, today is a day of rememberance and not a day of partisanship."

Senate Majority Leader Barry Goldwater Jr. states "I loved my dad.  He was a great man.  He will be surely missed.  89 years is a long time to live.  God Bless Barry Goldwater Sr."

In the summer of 1998 the Democrats and Republicans campaign hard for the midterm elections.  The Republicans could take control of both Houses this fall.

On August 7th, Osama Bin Laden and his gang are caught trying to bomb the U.S. Embassy building (because of the Security Act of 1993).

President Cuomo states "Thanks to the Security Act of 1993 we were able to catch a terrorist plot before it took place."

Over the next couple months President Cuomo states "We can't afford Republicans to take control of the House or Senate."  Privately he tells VP Kerrey "That'd be a f**king disaster."

On January 3, 1999 the 106th Congress starts.  House Speaker Dennis Hastert states "Today we will bring conservatism to government.  We can't afford all this spending we've done over the past 6 years.  Now that the Republicans have control of both Houses we can stop all the spending this President has done."

Senate Majority Leader Barry Goldwater, Jr. states "Not only is conservatism coming but so is personal liberties as well.  We need to stand up our government and demand that it can't tell us what to do."

On January 30th, Senator Goldwater announces he's a candidate for the GOP nomination in 2000.  "Today Americans I've decided to announce my intentions to run for President for my party.  I feel I can continue to do what I never finished back when I left office."

On April 2, 1999 President Cuomo announces his re-election plans for a third term.  "Today I announce that I'm going to be a candidate for President for a third term.  We will continue to work for the middle class and poor. The rich had their fair shake under the previous Republican administration."

Later that month Congressman Jack Kemp decides to enter the race for the GOP nomination.  "I want to announce my candidacy today for the Republican nomination for President of the United States.  I feel that we need a true conservative leader who, at the same time, can work with both sides of the aisle.  However, I don't think we should increase the government totally.  The government's gotten too large.  We need to make it smaller.  Under a Kemp administration that will happen."

In early May Osama bin Laden is given the death penalty for trying to attack the U.S. Embassy.  President Cuomo's approval ratings go to 60%.  He states "This world is getting better and better now with bin Laden gone.  We got Saddam 7 years ago and now we got bin Laden.  What a great victory for America."

GOP candidate Barry Goldwater Jr. states "I want to commend the President in this instance.  He was able to get rid the world of another bad man."

Former Senator Bill Bradley considers running in the Democratic primary.  He will decide in the next month or so.  In the end, for party unity, he decides against it.   (However look for Bradley to make a run in 2004).
