This is a sports story, but it is also an attack on the President and partly a criminal justice matter, so I put it here.

What Michael Vick did was horrible, but should he really die for it?Huh??  People deserve a second chance and this guy has paid dearly and has shown he is a changed man.

I used to respect Mr. Carlson, but this just made me lose all respect for him.

I don't know Mr. Carlson, but I completely agree with him, or at least the generality that Vick should have suffered more and that he is overpaid. He was the cause of animal suffering and death, and considering that humans are animals, and dogs are man's best friend, he should have gotten a hell of a lot more punishment.

The entire clip is unhinged and disturbing, as is the concept.  Moreso is the ignorance that has led to the public demonization of Vick.  The fact that he was a public figure was his doing, he wanted the fame and the money, but that was taken advantage of to make the point that dogfighting won't be tolerated.  The sentencing he got was massive compared to the usual slap on the wrist for his offenses.  He was made into a public spectacle and forced into being the poster boy for his offenses.  In response, he has turned that attention into a way to increase awareness of the wrongs of the culture of dogfighting.  In response to his embracing his own chastising for good, he gets condemned to death by people we're all told to take seriously.  I take Vick far more seriously than any of the fools on "news" programs.

didn't watch the clip, but when a salary is determined by the highest bidder (as it should be), who are you to say it is too much?  the value of something is ALWAYS determined by what someone is willing, wisely or unwisely, to pay for it.

Obviously false.  'To pay' for something is to excersize a political power - people cannot 'pay' who have no money.  In other words, only those empowered by the State to act as 'buyers' can set the 'value' of something, thus, the State sets all value.

Like I said before, this wouldn't be happening if Michael Vick were right.

Really? I find dogfighting horrible and appalling. If any Republican candidate was ever caught doing it they would lose my vote and I would crusade to make sure they lose NC in any contest. Might pull a Taxi Driver.

Do you think that Fox News would be talking about how a white player deserved the death penalty for dogfighting?

Huffington Post (or MSNBC for that matter) are far more credible news sources than FOX.

If its the topic of discussion, and someone holds that opinion, yes.

With Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews? I highly doubt it.

Matthews is a blowhard fool. Liberals despise him as much as conservatives.

Olbermann might be a pompous prick but he doesn't pull facts out of his ass like O'Reilly and Hannity.

While liberals are opposed to capital punishment, I can see some PETA members supporting Tucker Carlson's statements, which is probably the only time you will see that.

If he's serious, I can sort of understand his feelings. He might be a dog owner. That's probably not something one should be inclined to express on the air though, is it?

More likely than not he just wanted some attention. Seriously, when is the last time Tucker Carlson had any attention?

Also, why was this posted again? Oh yeah, because we needed a separate thread for BushOklahoma's commentary of course! Tongue
