I am not a fan of off site recruiting, mainly because it can quickly turn into an inactive votebank. You can argue similar conditions already exist within Atlasia, but those people are at least active on the forum. They at least have some purpose being here. Inviting people onto this website just to vote in Atlasia is not right.

Keep in mind that if you know someone who is truly interested in the game, and will be an active member, then by all means invite them. I just don't want a repeat of the time when that chick from the American Idol forum just showed up to vote.

Who, I'm almost 100% positive I recall correctly, Tmth recruited himself.

Simple facts like that deserve to be stated when these are the issues that are important during a Presidential campaign, Tmth.

This issue has been stated many times ever since it happened. This instance occurred when I was a brand new member to the game of Atlasia. I had no clue how things worked at the time. I don't believe any candidate should be judged on a decision they made a long time ago. If we did that, Mitch Daniels wouldn't have a prayer at the White House, and neither would other RL candidates. Wink

Thankfully, I have learned a lot since then, and would never make such an ill-informed decision again.

(Just for clarification, though she was on an American Idol forum, she actually did know some things about politics. I only asked her to join the site because I thought she may enjoy this political forum, but after a couple months, she decided not to continue posting here.)

Great.  Go ahead and post your opening statement in the thread.  I will give Dallasfan and Ogis until tomorrow whenever I get back on to give their opening statements after which we will move into the actual debate.

Volume 1, Issue 2.1

Timeline Spotlight
By Cathcon

A Union in Peril: The Story of the 2012 American Schism
By Progressive
In the 2012 election, President Barrack Obama narrowly wins against former Speaker Newt Gingrich and his running mate, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer.  He then faces a nation divided as the issue of secession begins to emerge. Still in the timeline's early stages, it is expected to develop into a secession timeline.

Reagan Wins the Republican Nomination 1976!
by TommyC1776
The title says it all. Currently entering the 1980 Presidential Election, President Reagan's approval ratings stand below 50% as some of his challengers include John Anderson as a Republican, and "Scoop" Jackson, Ted Kennedy, and Morris Udall as Democrats.

2012: America's Future Decided
By Feeblepizza
Originally a 2012 Timeline ending with the election of former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney as President, despite a relatively successful Third Party bid by Herman Cain, it continues into Romney's first term as tensions rise with Iran and was appears imminent.

1988: Defending the Reagan Revolution and a New Democratic Hope
By Bawlexus91
Now in early 1987, President Ronald Reagan has announced he will seek a third term despite challenges from televangelist Pat Robertson and Senate Minority Leader Bob Dole.

Editor's Note
I will hopefully have an interview up tomorrow (hopefully).  Sorry, I've been a bit lazy.  Just out of curiosity, how many of you are actually reading this paper?
