As well educated and intelligent as Santorum is, I am surprised he may actually go through with this exercise in futility.

Ego boost my friend, its not that he will lose, its that he had the balls to try.

Plus he will get higher future speaking fees and consulting fees if he is known as a "former Presidential Candidate" and he will get good sound bites in the debates, and maybe a talk show on Fox.  More books to sell, etc.

Its a PR win-win, unless he says something or does something stupid.

Correct answer.

What?  Are you saying that Rick Santorum has ulterior motives and that his real purpose is the pursuit of the almighty dollar?

Not that I agree but do you, as a Mitt Romney fan, really want to talk about phoniness?

milhouse24 raised the issue that Santorum may be running in order to position himself for lucrative future earnings.

I would like to point out that Romney does not have to position himself for lucrative future earnings by running for President.  He is already extremely wealthy.

Yes, some Romney positions have evolved, some would say flip flops,  but that only demonstrates he is working to improve himself.  Santorum has had  his own political evolvement, or flip flops, over the years also.  Perhaps he saw room for improvement as well.

He's now up to two staffers in NH:

Perhaps one of these days, a candidate will make enough hires that we'll stop counting them one-by-one.

Santorum made a misstep.

"I find it almost remarkable for a black man to say, 'We're going to decide who are people and who are not people.'"

I'm sure there are plenty of people in the base who think this is an acceptable thing to say, but I still believe he's way too far off course for the "do no harm" role a veep needs, and is not a serious presidential candidate.

And you're a fucking asshole. How about you try actually contributing something to a debate at some point, or are you too busy kissing Rick Santorum's ass?
All life is a blur of Republicans and meat.
