Hello, I’m The Economist, and I’m a candidate for Northeast Assembly. I’m pretty new to Atlasia, and I know I have a lot to learn. But I’m excited to get involved in Atlasia and be an active and informed voter.

I know some of you may be hesitant of electing someone as new as I am, but I hope I can convince you otherwise. I can promise you that if I am elected to the Assembly, I will try as hard as I can to serve the people of the Northeast as well as I can, and I’ll be ready to learn everything I need to learn to be successful in my position.

Thank you.

3. Pick a side, Steelers or the Packers?

I think that question is extremely biased, feel free to not answer it!

As for my question, Hayek or Keynes? Choose wisely...

Well, honestly, it’ll take some time for me to be able to take hard positions on game reforms, since I’m just new to the game. From reviewing the Wiki, I did notice that the Northeast has a rather large Assembly size for such a small position, which I find different. I’ll take a closer look at that over the course of the next few days and try to decide whether or not I’d support lowering the amount of Assembly seats.

But regarding RL policy, I consider myself to be a rather moderate Republican, in that I don’t associate myself with the Tea Party and I am not conservative on every position. I do support gay marriage, though I don’t know the relevance of that issue in the game. I’m supportive of the death penalty, supportive of gun rights, and I support free trade. I’d somewhat classify myself as a libertarian, in that I don’t believe in big government, big spending, and prefer leaving many issues, such as abortion and the death penalty, to regions.

I think that question is extremely biased, feel free to not answer it!

As for my question, Hayek or Keynes? Choose wisely...

For me, the answer is Friedrich Hayek.

Economically speaking, I am more aligned with his views that private commerce and industry takes precedence over government. Government historically has proven itself unsuited to the task of stimulating the economy through the public sector. By which I mean, direct infusing of money into programs like the Obama stimulus. The multiplier for government programs tend to be lower than what Keynesian economists would contend them to be.

Hayek believed a lot in the private market’s power to motivate and invigorate our economy. So do I. I believe that government regulations should be minimal, should be constrained to ensuring a basic infrastructure is in place, the rule of law is uphold, and contracts are enforced. Anything else tends to be inefficient and has poor returns, in a general sense. In that sense, I agree more with Hayek.

I don’t malign Keynes though. He did important things, such as develop GDP and to create some of the effective responses to recessions that we see today. But I agree more overall with Hayek’s views of the markets and economics.

Since you're running for Assembly, a ragional position, what position would you take on this issue?

If asked to vote on a regional basis, I would in general, oppose laws that would be considered pro-choice. In short, I am pro-life. As a matter of fact, I am pro-life regionally in every case except where the mother's life is at stake (I believe this to be the only consistent view on abortion, IMO).  I support restrictions on abortion in the second and third trimesters additionally.

I'm sure you're aware of the RoN situation, if you were in charge, how would you handle it?

I think we should obviously classify RoN as a terrorist organization. I hope the whole incident will be further investigated, and I think we should consider increasing funds for security in federal buildings like the GTO building.

Pro-gay marriage, pro-life, pro-death penalty, anti-affirmative action.
