Yeah, they need to rebuild everything. But then they've needed to do that for ages; that's one reason why this landslide was on the scale it was.

Antony Green had said after the Federal election that the Liberals had outpolled the Greens in Balmain, but I wasn't expecting it to be the case yesterday.

The Balmain result is crazy, yeah. 32, 31, 30. lol. I suppose if there's one consolation to NSW Labor, it's that the election was a disaster for the Greens as well.

Anyways, quite a few seats still listed as being 'in doubt'. Current list:

Balmain
East Hills
Maroubra
Monaro
Newcastle
Oatley
Swansea
Toongabbie
Wollongong

Hopefully Australians give a similarly resounding victory to Abbott come 2013. Wink

No, we better bloody not, or I'll happily make use of my German citizenship

Also, I can deal with O'Farrell, he's not a right-wing nut bag - he's an old-school Liberal - not one of the Liberals who are desperately trying to turn it into the GOP, and at once destroy the great Australian support for social justice as well as drag us backward in social policy.

I probably would have voted Liberal in this state election, simply because the ALP had been in power far too long and had lost perspective.

A few changes from the earlier maps, according to the ABC website. Independent performing with a strong swing in Lake Macquarie (on election night, it had it as a Liberal gain) - this change would be because the ABC's computers probably predicted a different finishing order.

East Hills now has the Liberals just ahead, whereas on election night, Labor had a very slight lead.

Oatley (adjoining East Hills) now has Labor ahead, instead of the Liberals (on election night).

EDIT: Liberals are now ahead again in Oatley. This zig-zagging suggests to me that a couple of bundles were in the wrong pile earlier (going to Labor), and then another couple of bundles were in the wrong pile (going Liberal).

I've re-done my maps, but instead of posting daily map updates, I'll wait until we have the declaration.

Looks like Pauline Hanson got 1.86% in the Upper House. Her vote may fall further (but probably not by much) because the larger parties tend to do better in postals and pre-poll. Very unlikely she'll be elected.

Rightly so, it's bad enough the crackpots in the CDP and the Shooter's Party will have influence.

The low quota required to be elected to the NSW Legislative Council worried me that she would get up, and I'm thankful to see she failed to reach even half a quota.

The funny thing is that the UK isn't very diverse. Someone better not suggest she comes to the United States.

If you want diversity, come to Toronto. It's the most diverse city in the world.

And none of that "more immigrants in vancouver" crap. Vancouver's immigrants are from the same two countries. Immigrants to Toronto are from every country in the world; the proportion of our immigrants from the non-popular immigrant origin countries is what makes us so diverse.

She'd be elected statewide in Arizona.

Other than Israel, Australia has more overseas-born citizens than any other nation, and almost half of all our people have at least one parent born overseas.

ANYWAY, I hope Pauline does get in, for four reasons:

1. It'll remind the electorate that she's useless at actually doing anything, and that her views and policies are nuts.

2. It keeps her off crappy reality TV shows for 8 years.

3. It is fitting that Australia's only-ever (more or less) political prisoner ends up in parliament, even if I find her views disgusting.

4. It keeps her out of federal politics.

Yes, she's a national disgrace, but she does represent a nationally disgraceful segment of the electorate. Sure, the coalition covers most of the same ground, but they're not as overtly racist about it.

Interesting point that the person largely responsible for putting her in prison is the now alternative prime minster, and his illegal slush fund.

Never thought it would happen...

2PP in Balmain, according to Antony Green is Green vs Liberal.

And now we can end this nonsense about "only Liberal preferencing decisions have resulted in Greens winning seats" that has been dribbling out of some people's mouths over the past few days.

I just saw that.... I wasn't suprised... I had a feeling once the postals came in that the Greens would jump ahead.
