Only links to other news sites are to be posted in the threads in this forum.  If you want to post your own commentary or paraphrase the article, feel free.  If you want to post a key sentence or line from the article, that's ok too, but no more.

I'm not going to read through every damn thread here, but I'm taking this pretty seriously, and any threads that post whole articles that are reported will be amended to the rules above.

Generally, I think copyright laws in the US are ridiculous, but I've seen other sites hit hard by them, and don't want it to happen here.

Consider this your first and last warning.

So, basically, you're asking us to save commentary for a separate post that doesn't contain a link to the article we posted?

And you're a fucking asshole. How about you try actually contributing something to a debate at some point, or are you too busy kissing Rick Santorum's ass?

No what he's saying is that you can post commentary in the post with the link, but nothing beyond a sentence or so from the article itself.

Original material is always ok, anywhere.

Why are you enforcing this so much more harshly than the others? I'm just curious

I personally can't stand it when people just copy and paste a whole article into a forum.  I much prefer a couple of succinct quotes with a good dose of analysis.  I am perfectly capable of reading articles on Google news.  I don't need people reposting them here.

The U.S. actually has a Pirate Party, though not nearly with the level of support as its European counterparts.
