Yes but what you're leaving out is your infamous Student Senate confirmation hearing. You survived the vote of the full Senate but not after some interesting revelations involving you and a Coke can.

In fifth grade I ran for Student Council president.

Well, I'm my year Vice President and I was treasurer in HS first grade, but I don't think that count Tongue

I'm former California Governor Pete Wilson.

Well... if HS is being counted, I launched a bloodless coup within the Student Council...

I was elected as a member, but lost the internal vote for president by a vote of 10-8... THEN discovered I got 73% of the vote among all of those in my year... I kind of decided I had the right to be president.

I suddenly volunteered to take the VP's place in weekly meetings with the principal... and when the president had band and swimming obligations I took her place. I had them create an executive council position just for me "the student leadership liaison officer" (since I was friends with all the prefects)... I kind of undermined the president to the extent that she was asked to step down... and I was elected by a vote of 15-3....

I'm both ashamed, and kind of proud that I could have gotten away with it.

I ran for student council in Grade 5 and lost, probably placing third (there were, iirc, 2 seats per class). Unlike others promising to build a swimming pool, I only promised to have a longer lunch time and lower cafeteria prices Wink

I almost ran for city council this year as a token opposition dude, and my friend backed me, but I didn't run in the end. I would probably have run as a vaguely progressive candidate, and if there had been a all-candidates debate I would probably have a) stuttered and look like a retard and b) make random references to Getulio Vargas and Fernando Collor which nobody in Innes Ward would've understood.

The list of unsuccessful candidates who post/have posted on the international elections board is quite long, and longer than most people are aware of. One former poster does hold office now though.

Was Inspector of Elections in my precinct in Pittsburgh for a term. I got my absentee ballot and saw there was no one running and wrote myself in. And that was all it took. Grin

Don't you wish that student council politics was as scandalous and edgy as real politics? I'm still waiting for my class president to go power mad and get caught in some sort of huge scandal. If that happened, I might actually bother running for student council stuff.

I have a great amount of power as my year Vice President. I'm in charge of counting presences on the classes.

I was in Student Council for much of Elementary. Tongue I'm also Junior Class President, as well as a couple other random club positions I can't remember at the current time.

I have been approached to run for Student Body President next year, because the person widely expected to run, well, isn't like by a group of people. I probably won't run though, as I'm not entirely certain that I could win. The only reason I would is for scholarships.

I have a confession to make, but I am actually Eskil Erlandsson, MP for Kronoberg Constituency, Swedish Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, and former three-and-a-half term mayor of Ljungby.

Ah, since the conversation has shifted to grade school elected office...

I never ran for class office; I could have been elected class VP in junior year after the girl who had the position resigned, but decided against it when a friend was running and really wanted to do the job and all I really wanted it for was as something to look good on my college application.

I was on Student Council, but was somewhat lazy about attending the meetings so I figured that prevented me getting elected to any leadership position there. It actually got pretty dramatic, though: a friend was Student Council President but she got impeached by an overzealous opponent who brought up the fact she had been drinking on a recent school trip.

Also, in college, I've been elected as my fraternity's Treasurer and Risk Management Chair. Does that count? Grin
