Well, both of us are home for Thanksgiving. I'm browsing the results and he just pops in and says "why are you still studying this? your guy lost." then says "want to see who I voted for? Bring up North Dakota." Then he laughs at the map. "They only won the reservations? Oh yeah, and Steele. How'd Kerry win Steele?" I said I had no clue either. Then he tells me click on the "Other" and points at Peroutka. "That's who I voted for."

I asked "Do you have any clue what that guy stook for?"

And then he says "no, but I wasn't going to vote for either of the two main idiots and thought he had the coolest name."

Think he'll regret this one day?

Regardless, now you all know who one of those 48 votes for Peroutka in Burleigh county, North Dakota was.

That really in unforunate. If someone ever told me they voted for a candidate because of their "cool" name, I'd walk away disgusted. It's just mocking the electoral process.

I'd be more disgusted if he actually agreed with Peroutka on the issues.

This is exactly the doomsday scenario once we let 13 year olds vote.

I dunno, I thought Badnarik was the coolest name. In 2000, the Workers World had a cool name -- Moorehead.

Get Moorehead with Moorehead.

Hmm, she was a woman too. I bet she got teased a lot in college.

Not to mention her first name is Monica....

Keystone, you will love this with my brother.

His voting pattern: Kerry-Hoeffel-McDermott

Good Irish name and hated both Schwartz and Brown was his reasoning.  He is pro-life btw.

There are plnety of 13 year old's who can make smarter decisions than people over 18.

Being pro life and voting for a Democrat that supports baby murder. Hypocritical, don't you think?

Yeah that's pretty unfortunate. Hopefully McDermott will call it quits after this election. He has to understand that he's not getting more than 2% of the vote and it won't change.

I know plenty of pro-life Dems who were enthusiastically supporting Kerry.

Anyone who supports letting people under the age of 18 vote under any circumstance in any case/situation whatsoever should be beheaded.

Myself included.  Pro-life doesn't just mean abortion, it can stretch to issues such as the death penalty and unnecessary war.

I'm not sure even 18-year olds should be allowed to vote. Just realized that my class and all people my age are turning 18 next year...we're not fit to vote. Obviously I think I am, but hte vast majority are certianly not.

If anything the voting age should be higher. Certianly not lower.

On the plus side, only a small percentage of young people vote.

Totally agree. That was because the politicians wanted masses of unninformed voters who have only a limited grasp of the significancy of those policies. Thus the impulse to lower the voting age, to get more sheeple votes.
Thhis is why we should only let people who are over 1/5 of an acre to vote. Grin

Well, I did read an interesting proposal a few years back.  Only people who pay taxes should vote.  The rationale is that you should only have a say if you are paying into the system.
