Thanks to my "usual suspects": PiT, Hans, Ben, Edu, bbf and Vazdul.

Does anyone have any opinions on my "seeded tournament elimination" format?

Does anyone have any opinions on my "seeded tournament elimination" format?

I'd prefer a simple Borda count finale. The end result was a foregone conclusion once the rankings were complete.

Certainly, but the ranking does not prevent people from reconsidering who they would prefer in a head to head matchup. After all, the viola would not have made it as far as it did if people didn't change their minds somewhat.

A real tournament is better than a frustrating Borda count finale with 4 eliminated at once.
It was a fine formula, I think.

Vazdul is right but it's more because we've got real oboe fans from the beginning, not because of your formula.

As for me, I voted for violin over viola only because I thought it would have had more chances against oboe.
Otherwise, I would have been pleased to see Viola win this (or, fo course, English horn, my real favourite apart from Piano, which didn't deserve to win as it's not orchestral enough).
