This rings a lot more true to me than the idea that moral values carried the election.
Surely, moral values played a role. The left has been leading a long-term assault on traditional values, and in truth conservatives have been slow to recognize this and respond.
But moral values cannot really be secured by the government. National security can be, or at least the government can do a better job of it than anybody else.
I support the president on most values issues, but I voted for him largely because of national security. I have some suspicion of people who too loudly proclaim their religious beliefs; I have found that these are usually the people who don't live up to them. I have found that the best people are those who lead by example rather than words.
