What would have been the best possible scenario for Mondale? If Reagan had continued to stumble in the debates and he had appeared more "senile," what effect would that have had?

Reagan would have to accidently leak a gay sex orgy of him and every male member of his cabinet before Mondale would score in the hundreds.  They would all have to end up getting the AIDS, for the win.

Reagan is shot in late October, before the ballots can be changed.
