Caucus dissent is all but open right now. I could see this as a similarly bloodied, protracted process to that which finally pried the PC leadership from Dief's hands in the 1960s. She's just as tenacious and the only quicker route is for someone to openly stand against her. Not even Curzi has the balls to do that IMO.

My projections have the PQ at 5 seats. This could be the death of the PQ.

Does anyone understand why the PQ is this terrible with internal discipline? Not even the Canada Liberals under Ignatieff were this bad.

Part of their determination to appear to be as French as possible.

The PQ has overthrown or pressured out all their leaders except Parizeau, who willingly committed political suicide. So yeah, this is par for the course. At the core, this is another war between the hardline "orthodoxes" for whom any deviance from "national question" ONLY is heresy, and the more pragmatic, governance-oriented social democrats (of which Marois has been the leader for many years). The tension has always existed, since any attempt for a decisive resolution one way or the other would probably cause a formal split. That state of affairs hasn't existed since 1967, when you had the right-wing RN and socialist RIN- predating the PQ's '68 founding.

4 MNAs openly called for her resignation at the afternoon caucus, but she still has a majority of the caucus. At any rate, the only way to formally unseat her without a resignation is a membership vote which requires an actual challenger.
