I find this entirely unnecessary.  The Constitution already gives the Assembly the power to elect it's own leadership.  I see no reason to change this.  At the point that 3/4 of the Assembly want to remove the speaker, they could do so on their own.

Furthermore, section 5 doesn't make since, since we don't have a line of succession for the Assembly.

Why was this even brought up?

I don't see the point of this either.

My intent on this bill was to allow for public referendum to replace an inactive official, if the assembly is unwilling or too apathetic to do so.

Meanwhile, section 5 was awfully written (apparently I think this is a constitutional monarchy), and I meant for it to say:

(Offered as an Amendment)

Since there is already significant opposition to the bill, you can vote to table if the assembly so desires.

PS: I didn't mean for this bill to be a reflection of my opinions on Speaker Inks, as I think he is doing a wonderful job. I wrote this Amendment to expand the people's power of recall.

I think you had good intentions, but I see it as unnecessary.

The bill is now at a final vote.  This will be a 48 hour vote:

Was the bill that bad that you needed to shoot it down twice? Wink

Voting is now closed.  The AYEs are 1 and the NAYs are 3, with 1 not voting.  The NAYs have it, and the amendment is not passed.
